⚠️ Warning ⚠️ these are real life farm pictures.
Our sermon today touched on complaint. We've been in the Exodus of the Hebrew people and all the intricate ways they keep seeing miracles and then not trusting that God will provide. Hindsight is 20/20. Because we have the privilege of the Bible in its entirety, and we know how their story wrapped up, its really easy to look at them and think, "what wimps" "can't you SEE how God makes a way over and over?" and the always holy "Oh ye of little faith" thoughts the creep in while reading these scriptures. They poison the water of what we could actually LEARN in those hard lessons.
This farm, Gray Acres, is a miracle. It wasn't a family tradition, we didn't plan and plan for it, we literally woke up one day with willing hearts and minds and access to YouTube and God put the rest in place. God has created this place, sustained this place and held us up. He will not stop now, this we know.
This is a rather heavy PSA, we aren't afraid or overly concerned, but we do need to make our AMAZING customers aware that this heat is not farm friendly. Heck, it's not anything friendly. We've been hauling extra water, choring and moving creatures before the sun really says hello and doing what we can to help keep our animals healthy.
But the heat beat us today.
Seventeen, SEVENTEEN birds lost today. Seventeen birds that were quite literally set to harvest Saturday. We were so close to the finish line. And I'd bet dollars the count will go up tomorrow.
We're not alone either. One of our farm friends lost a vital hog. Another farm friend lost almost entire order of turkey pullets. Animals are going down and farmers are feeling it deep in their soul.
So, the PSA, we are trying friends, but our inventory will be low. We are discussing adding two additional, unplanned harvests to this year. We believe God has given us this ability to provide REAL and HEALTHY meat options for our community. Because people matter, period.
Please be patient with us. We are so grateful for our community.
Love, the Gray Crew
