These last few cool, peaceful mornings really have me ready for Fall. Just a few more weeks until our little flock is ready for shearing, and I can spend my free time in the cooler months cleaning and spinning their wool 🥰

In addition to the lavender orpingtons I posted about last week, we added some Ameraucana hens to our flock. Their pretty blue eggs are such a nice addition to our cartons!

Spent a very peaceful time with our little Icelandic sheep herd last night just before nightfall. There’s a lot of hard work involved in homesteading. There’s always a stall to muck out, a repair that needs done, animals trying to die when you least expect it (nearly always during the much more expensive off-hours of the local vet 😅) but some days it’s a peaceful homemade dinner, cake and coffee on the porch, and hanging out with your woolly besties for a while. It’s absolutely worth the blood, sweat, and tears then.
