Spent a very peaceful time with our little Icelandic sheep herd last night just before nightfall. There’s a lot of hard work involved in homesteading. There’s always a stall to muck out, a repair that needs done, animals trying to die when you least expect it (nearly always during the much more expensive off-hours of the local vet 😅) but some days it’s a peaceful homemade dinner, cake and coffee on the porch, and hanging out with your woolly besties for a while. It’s absolutely worth the blood, sweat, and tears then.

One of the perks of having access to a commercial kitchen is being able to process large quantities of food at once. Like taking eight freshly butchered ducks and turning it into confit legs and wings, vac-packed breasts, and a couple gallons of roasted duck stock, all at once!
