Sweater weather tastes better. 🍂

Fall is in full swing here in New England, and we’re not complaining. The leaves are changing, there’s a chill in the air, and it’s finally time to break out the sweaters.

Hope you’re enjoying a little fall wherever you are! 🍁

𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝗲𝘁 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗸𝘆 𝗟𝗲𝗿𝗼𝘆?

Standing tall in the middle of our little vinegar works is Leaky Leroy, a giant oak foeder that left his job storing fine French cognac to join AVW, where he now ages hundreds of gallons of America’s most delicious Apple C***r Vinegar (if we do say so ourselves!)

Holding the distinction of being both the oldest and largest of the vessels in our barrel aging program, Leroy is one of the hardest working members of the team. His contents, once aged over months to accentuate the natural character of the c***r, will go on to become the base of four of our most sought after vinegar flavors.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲?

A common French surname, we named the vessel Leroy to honor his heritage as a cognac foeder. But, while that name was given, the Leaky nickname was well earned as the fluctuating temperatures of our facility cause him to swell and contract, sometimes letting a little bit of vinegar leak out. Don’t worry, though, a quick reseal with beeswax and he’s as good as new.

𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗳𝗮𝘃𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗸𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘂𝗽𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲! 👋🍾⁣
⁣
Notice something different about our latest vinegar bottles? We’ve upgraded to a 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁-𝗶𝗻, 𝗻𝗼-𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗽 𝗽𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗿!⁣
⁣
(And nope, if you see that insert inside the neck, it’s not broken—it’s supposed to be there! 😉)⁣
⁣
We made the switch because we love a cleaner kitchen. No more sticky bottles, no more messy drips, and zero wasted vinegar. Just smooth, perfect pours every single time.⁣

We’re swinging into the warmer months with a refreshing recipe that we hope inspires your inner mixologist to add a dash of vinegar to your summer cocktails and mocktails.

Say hello to the American Vinegar Works Arnold Palmer!

Gaining a bit of its familiar tartness along with enticing hoppy, floral notes from our IPA B**r Malt Vinegar, this recipe is sure to add a little punch to your next backyard gathering or relaxing afternoon on the porch.

To make one serving, combine 8 oz. chilled black tea, 0.5 oz. IPA B**r Malt Vinegar, 0.75 oz. simple syrup, and 0.25 oz. fresh lemon juice. Stir well and pour over ice when you're ready to enjoy. Garnish with a lemon slice or sprig of mint for an extra touch of freshness.

We love scaling this recipe up to batch size for easy sharing.

For those with a different kind of party in mind, we find that adding 2 oz. of vodka or wh***ey creates the perfect balance for the serving size above.

As always, you can find a printable version of this recipe on our website, and have ideas like this delivered straight to your inbox by signing up for our email list.

Happy sipping!
