For the past few years, I've been trying to use my dehydrator with the blueberries. The online recipes make it seem so easy. I succeeded in making semi-dry blueberries that spoiled, uber-dry blueberries that were more like peppercorns, and a bear attraction device when I used the dehydrator on my porch. I learned that it is important to sort them by size and to freeze them before dehydrating so that the peel is more fragile. Last year I finally got some blueberries that I still considered too dry but they didn't spoil and were perfect when I added them to oatmeal as it was cooking. If anyone else has hints I would love to hear them!

We've had lots of customers this year who are interested in freezing berries. The best way to do this is to lay the fresh berries on a baking sheet and then put the baking sheet in the freezer. After the berries are frozen, transfer them to a freezer bag. We use a bench scraper for this but use whatever works for you. Freezing them this way prevents them from sticking together in the freezer bag!

It is a beautiful day for picking. We have ripe berries everywhere right now. If you have picked here in recent years, the rows that are parallel to E. Windsor were mostly overgrown and had limited production. We are happy to report that after many years of work, these bushes have come back strong. Updated map attached as well.

Thanks to all who have come to pick so far! We just walked the fields and can confirm that we still have plenty of ripe blueberries and a decent number of raspberries. The map shows the fields and the conditions as of 14JUL around noon. As always, feel free to walk around and pick where ever you find ripe berries.

Happy almost 4th of July! Some of our berries have decided to come in early, so we are opening today. White board will be updated shortly. Pick your own, honor system (pick, weigh and pay - cash, check or Venmo), holding the price at $4/lb for this season. 58 E. Windsor Road, Worthington. As a reminder, as long as they are mostly blue, picked berries will continue to ripen if you leave them out at room temperature.
