Throwback Thursday

Have you seen the piece of wood on the beam over the corn wagon in the farmstand? It was recently discovered this summer and has 1799 AC carved into it.

It is the beam of an oxen yoke belonging to our ancestor Abner Cook(e) (1735 - 1815).

Oxen were a vital part of the farm in the 1700s and 1800s.

Looks like it's going to be a good weekend to stay inside and do some baking and cooking.
Maybe bake a pie, prepare a soup or chowder, stuffed peppers, eggplant parm, stuffed pumpkin or just enjoy a warm cup of c***r.
