Two Doves Bees & Gardens

Two Doves Bees & Gardens Two Doves Bees & Gardens is an suburban homestead where we share our passion for organic gardening, native plants, and beekeeping.

We are located in Collin County, Texas (North Texas) and share our experiences via social media. Two Doves Bees & Gardens is just outside of Wylie, Texas. We share our passion for organic gardening, native plants, and beekeeping via social media and through sharing with our local community as we have opportunity. We raise our bees and manage them as organically as possible and use natural remedies

in the treatment of pests such as small hive beetles and varroa mites. We are also passionate about our bee yard, attempting to provide resources the bees enjoy and can use in their hive - including the use of pollen and nectar producing flowers, shrubs, and trees and share that passion by teaching others what we learn. If you would like to book us for a speaking engagement, please email at [email protected]

Two Doves Bees is registered with the State of Texas.

Before the Gardens
It’s 1985. The world feels wide open, and the future is still a sketch waiting for color.
John and Sarah sit together on a couch in a small living room with wood-paneled walls, laughing about something that probably doesn’t matter anymore — but the laughter does. It’s the sound of two newlyweds discovering the rhythm of life together. No gardens yet. No bees. No fig trees or food forests. Just love, a couch, and the quiet certainty that they’ve found their person.

The lamp glows softly beside them, casting light that feels like promise. Outside, the world hums with possibility — cars they’ll someday own, homes they’ll someday build, children they’ll someday raise. But in this moment, none of that exists yet. What exists is the beginning of everything.

Forty-one years later, the laughter still echoes — now through gardens filled with sunflowers, figs, and the hum of bees. The couch and paneling are long gone (although, we still sit in that same room from time-to-time), replaced by soil and roots and the steady rhythm of seasons. But the love that started in that small room has grown deeper, stronger, and more enduring than either could have imagined.

Because before the gardens, before the bees, before the harvests and the homestead — there was this.
Just John and Sarah.
And that was enough to start a lifetime.

We grow several types and varieties of beans… we love eating them right off the plant -or- pickling to have as a great summer snack after working in the garden.

We often use “swarm traps” to collect swarms of honeybees. The flowerpot swarm traps have been highly successful!

Red noodle beans are summer’s show‑offs — the hotter it gets here in North Texas, the happier they grow. These long, ruby‑red pods climb fast, set heavy, and don’t blink at triple‑digit heat. If you need a crop that thrives when everything else is begging for shade, this is the one.

Sarah planted Larkspur in the fall one year and we’ve been getting “volunteers” every year since! When small, the volunteer flowers can be moved wherever we want them.

When a plant goes to seed, it’s not the end — it’s the beginning of next year’s garden.

We let a few flowers and veggies (especially our onions) bloom out, and the pollinators love it.
Those blossoms become food for bees and butterflies, and later, seeds we can save and plant again.

A simple way to garden with nature instead of against it.
