Please help with an upcoming need at the AmeriHealth Caritas Wellness & Opportunity Center.

We’re looking to collect gently used or unused materials that can be repurposed for our free creative programming. We’re hoping to gather items such as:

Magazines (especially those with lots of photos for vision boards and collage projects)
Scrapbook paper or cardstock
Construction paper
Stickers
Ribbon, yarn, fabric scraps, or tissue paper
Buttons, beads, or other craft embellishments
Washi tape
Unused craft kits or supplies
Any other arts and crafts materials that are in good, usable condition

Thank you to the community partners Margo Levin, Debbie Rosenfeld Goldberg of the Jewish Federations of Reading, and members of GRUC (Greater Reading Unity Coalition) and Lauren Kehres, Grants and Community Development Coordinator for the Reading Public Museum for hosting the screening of Black and Jewish America: An Interwoven History.

Special thanks to our distinguished panelists—Dr. Camil Culbreath, Director of Family & Community Engagement for the Reading School District; Rabbi Ted Prosnitz of Kesher Zion Synagogue; and Dr. Lucretia Brown, NAACP State Labor & Industry Committee Chair—for sharing their unique perspectives and experiences. Their insights as faith leaders, educators, and advocates for economic justice enriched a meaningful discussion about our shared histories, common struggles, and collective commitment to equity and understanding.

Events like these remind us of the power of dialogue, partnership, and community as we continue building bridges across cultures and generations.

Thank you, Dr. Camil Culbreath, for an outstanding presentation and for creating engaging, inclusive learning opportunities for our youth.

We learned that Juneteenth is also celebrated in Mexico by the Mascogos (Black Seminoles), descendants of those who escaped enslavement in the United States and found freedom across the border. Their continued observance reminds us that the story of freedom extends beyond borders and generations.

Thank you for inspiring curiosity, learning, and appreciation for our shared history.

Please join us on June 19 for a pay what you wish day from 11am to 5pm at RPM in honor of Juneteenth! Admission to The Museum will be free, but donations are encouraged to allow us to continue to offer these free days in the future.
