Anniversary of our first date. 22 years ago I answered a “unknown caller” on my phone which turned out to be Dean. I was at WalMart shopping for last minute gifts . He had gotten my phone number from my account at Farmers Milling. We chatted a bit and then he asked me if I would like to meet for a late dinner. I said yes, I considered him a friend since I had seen him nearly every Saturday at FMS picking up feed either from my first marriage or on my own. One of those included Dean loading for me. We both felt something. We didn’t understand till months later. And here we are 22 years later still side by side. We’ve been one another’s care takers, my multiple knee surgeries, other broken bones, tears and Dean’s cancer. We’ve supported one another in the loss of our dads.
We’ve done it together. It’s not been rainbows and flowers but we make it work. It’s a journey I hope we celebrate for many more years together. Happy first date anniversary Dean!
