❤️Meet the family behind The Whisking Kitchen!
Hi, I’m Jacque Cassell, the baker, canner, recipe tester, stocker, sign maker—and pretty much everything in between—behind The Whisking Kitchen! 😂
But even though you may see my name and face the most, there are some pretty important people behind the scenes who are a huge part of my life and this little business of mine.
My husband, Benjamin, is a farmer and mechanic and is right there beside me through all of my crazy ideas. 😂 Whether I’m trying a new recipe, changing something at the stand for the hundredth time, needing something built or fixed, or starting a sentence with, “Sooo…I have an idea,” he gets to come along for the ride!
Then there’s our daughter, Hazel. 🩷 Being her mom is one of the greatest parts of my life. She gets a front-row seat to all the baking, experimenting, farm stand craziness and everything else that comes along with having a mama who is constantly coming up with something new. I hope as she grows up, she sees that even a small dream can become something special when you’re willing to work for it.
And I definitely can’t leave out my mother-in-law, Alyson, and father-in-law, Yancy. They are part of the family behind all of this too. Having family there to help, taste-test, listen to my ideas, encourage me and support this little adventure means more than I can put into words. ❤️
The Whisking Kitchen started in 2023, but the story behind it started before there was ever a business or a farm stand.
In 2021, I went through one of the hardest seasons of my life. During that time, I found myself turning to baking. One red velvet cake in particular helped spark something in me again. What started as a way to keep my hands and mind busy slowly became something I genuinely loved.
Eventually, that love turned into The Whisking Kitchen. 🩷
And there is another very important part of this story that I don’t want to leave out—the Lord.
My relationship with Him hasn’t always been what it should have been. It has been rocky at times, and I can admit that the rocky part was mainly on my end, not His. There were times I questioned, struggled, pulled away and tried to figure things out on my own.
But He was still there.
Recently, I made the decision to truly accept Him into my life, and I got saved. ❤️
I’m still learning. I’m still growing. I certainly don’t have everything figured out, and I’m not going to pretend that I do. But my relationship with the Lord has become an important part of who I am and the journey I’m on.
Looking back at where I’ve been, where I am now, and even how this little business has grown, I truly believe God has had His hand in this journey. 🙏
Today, what started in my home kitchen has grown into our little self-serve farm stand filled with homemade breads, sweet breads, cookies, cake slices, jams, jellies, pickled vegetables and, when available, fresh seasonal produce.
And believe me, not every recipe makes it to the stand! 😂 Some are winners, some are complete flops, and sometimes I don’t even know what I’m baking until I walk into the kitchen that morning.
But honestly, that’s part of what makes The Whisking Kitchen mine.
My faith, my family and my love for serving others are at the heart of what I do.
I love making the simple homemade things that remind you of something your grandma or mom might have made—the kind of food that can bring back a memory with one bite.
That’s where my saying comes from:
“Like Grandma’s Sweets, Only Sweeter!” 🩷
If you’ve stopped by the stand, bought a loaf of bread, grabbed a jar of jam, picked up a sweet treat, shared one of my posts, told someone about us, left a kind comment or even just pulled in to see what was available—thank you.
You’re supporting more than a little roadside farm stand.
You’re supporting me, Benjamin, Hazel and our family. You’re supporting something that grew out of a difficult chapter of my life and became something I never imagined it would be.
And most importantly, I’m thankful to the Lord for meeting me where I was, for where He has brought me, and for wherever He leads me next. ❤️🙏
Thank you for supporting The Whisking Kitchen, our family and this crazy little dream of mine.
And if you pull up to the stand and never quite know what you’re going to find that day…don’t worry.
Half the time, I don’t know what I’m making either. 😂
Much love,
Jacque C. 🩷
