A year ago today our “woofs” crew grew from 5 to 7….I had seen a post about these two needing a home, with Jerry being deaf and at the time limited sight (I can tell you his sight is just fine now) and they wanted him to stay with his sibling. Adopting siblings comes with its challenges and many rescues won’t do it, but we had already had two sets, so we knew what the issues could be and have dealt with many before. I sent it to Josh thinking no way in heck he would say yes to adopting them…welp that joke was on me because he said “sure why not”…..🤣🤣 Put the application in and 365 days ago they came home to live with us. Charlie loved them from the get go, everyone else NOT so much….but the pups have worn everyone down, so at least now they tolerate them (most days).
Ben is the sweetest, kindest boy, who on a rare occasion thinks he will challenge the old man Rango (hence the big fight), but after that tussle and thanks to his new e collar, he has learned to respect the elders and listen to his Momma!!
Then we have Jerry….oh where does one begin 🤔
Jerry is fully deaf, so training is a new challenge, as you can’t correct or recall like a normal dog. Jerry is our wandering fool (day and at 2 am). Jerry has a ton of anxiety, doesn’t quite understand the little things and does not like being seperated from his clan, so Jerry’s go to response is to bark A LOT, and his bark is loud (cause he can’t hear himself, but oh we can don’t worry). He’s slowly gotten better and now that we know what seems to be his triggers we try to offset as much anxiety as we can. (Doesn’t always work, so we are buying stock in ear plugs). But he’s a happy happy guy underneath.
We wouldn’t trade the world for them and yes many days it’s hectic with 7 dogs, but hey what else would we be doing if we don’t have all these kids 💕💕
HAPPY GOTCHA DAY BOYS!!
