Our week started off with a bang on Monday! Our multi champion and Judge’s Choice gal Diva decided to go into labor at day 334. I’m out of town on vacation but our partner Dan Hilty was keeping a close eye on her. Things were not progressing like we felt it should and the decision was made to transport her to The Ohio State University Veterinary Hospital.
The cria had both legs back and head totally tucked under. The on call vet got the legs out but couldn’t get the head and decided to do a c-section.
We are happy to have a healthy mum and cria! Both are doing great due to Dan’s tremendous care and watchful eye!

This morning our multiple champion HTAF Diva’s Versace by Val D LSere was bred! While she was being bred, her mother came over and cushed by the panel which indicates the female is receptive to breeding. So Diva was bred too. Can’t wait for mid-late April 2023 for these crias to arrive!

Whoot! Whoot! I just got word from
our co-owner Dan Hilty of Holdfast Farm that HTAF Versace by Val D Lsere was awarded the Halter Light Female Color Championship under Helen Testa at the show in Iowa! Versace also received the Reserve Light Walking Fleece Championship! We are so thrilled!

With great sadness, we share the passing of Sue Ives.

Sue Ives, originally from New Hampshire, was a long time resident of Virginia. In 2004 she and husband Chuck purchased their first alpacas and started Alpacas of Nottingham Hollow. In 2005 they became founding members of the Virginia Alpaca Owners & Breeders Association. She volunteered much time to her local affiliate and to the national organization (AOA). Sue served on the VAOBA board for many years in all officer positions as well as Director at Large. She also served on the AOA Show Rules Committee as show liaison.

Sue has been show superintendent for all of the VAOBA Alpaca Expo’s since 2006. Since then she has superintended over a hundred shows across the country. Sue was honored by VAOBA in 2013 and MAPACA in 2018 with their Lifetime Achievement award. In 2019 Sue was awarded the AOA Shining Star for her work for and with the Show System and exhibitors.

We will miss her greatly. Chuck and the family are in our thoughts and prayers.
