end of July), cantaloupe( start harvesting( end of July), watermelon( start harvesting in August), green peppers and eggplant( start harvesting end of July). We are just about ready for our next season. Jackson's Farm Market will open starting May 11. Strawberries will start soon after that date due to the early heat we have had. We don't know how much U-pick there will be this year. Our strawberry field is half the size of last year and we lost some strawberries due to the last freeze we just had. Most of the strawberries will probably be picked for our farm market this year.
I have made the decision to stop planting more strawberries after this year. I planted a small planting this year so we should have our farm strawberries for three to four more years. It has been a tough decision for me to finally say I will stop planting strawberries after this year.
Many of you as customers know us as the strawberry farm. We thank all of you for coming to pick through all the past years. I have been a part of the strawberry farm for fifty-five years.
That said, I am not quitting the farm. The Jackson's Farm Market will continue and the farm will continue to grow sweet corn, tomatoes, melons, other vegetables and Fall squash and pumpkins. As well as providing other fruit and vegetables from other local growers when possible, and many other farm market items will continue to be stocked at the market.
Thankyou again to all of our loyal and new customers, without you this would not be possible.
God has blessed me with His abundance and I am eternally grateful for His sacrificial love.
Sincerely yours, Farmer Tom Jackson
