Happy first day of Spring! We made it 🙌🏼 Our season starts in just two weeks with our flower stand hopefully opening April 4th and spring subscriptions starting April 8th.

I’ve been prepping and growing this year’s spring flower crop for several months already so fingers crossed for blooms to arrive right on time. Ha! All our flowers are grown locally right here on our tiny farm so we are at the mercy of Mother Yakima.

Sun’s out, time to plant! This week I’m planting thousands of spring babies - poppies, stock, snapdragons and the slowest summer flower ever, but worth the wait - lisianthus.

Sadly, we don’t have flowers for Valentine’s Day. Here in our climate and zone, the only local flowers possible must grow indoors or in a heated greenhouse. Thankfully, all of our spring flower crops are sprouting up and will be ready to spoil you soon! We have many thousands of narcissus, tulips, ranunculus and much more already growing.
So enjoy the locally-made sweets and treats this week, start planning your veggie garden and know that spring blooms are just around the corner and worth the wait!

The ebb and flow of growing seasonal flowers keeps my squirrel brain in check. Every season comes and goes in a natural rhythm. Spring is always so full of excitement and demand for gorgeous local blooms. Then summer is a little quieter and much hotter. Fall is the final hurrah of amazing dahlias.

Now as we rest, our biggest spring crop ever is already growing in the field. Six years of getting to grow Yakima flowers for this community and I’m still excited!

Thank you to every friend, neighbor and customer who shares my excitement for locally grown flowers. Your sweet messages, comments and shares keep me going. Every time you stop and buy a bouquet, I keep making more. As I navigated how to keep growing and still be present for my family, you kept showing up - and you sold out the flower stand countless times. Thank you.

Fall is hitting hard with cold mornings, gorgeous sunny afternoons and busy schedules. These dahlias still make me swoon. And curse because I need to label them all before the big fall dig.

The dahlias are hitting their stride now. Even with these hot days, they thrive with the slightly longer and cooler nights. We will have lots available over the next six weeks until frost hits! Here for a good time, not a long time 😉

The flower stand is open today and tomorrow 8am until noon. Come grab some flowers for the last official weekend of summer.
