ATTN: Alaska Airlines Alaska Airlines - Seattle-Tacoma Int'l Airport SEA ALASKA AIR CARGO SEATTLE
We are experiencing significant issues with the transportation of our fresh salmon shipments from Seattle to their final destinations, such as Boise. These delays and losses are severely impacting our small business, which relies on these direct-to-market sales, as do the restaurant owners who depend on our product.
For example, last week, two shipments weighing less than 100 lbs each were sent from Seattle to Boise. They left Yakutat on time last Tuesday. One shipment consisted of two boxes, and the other was a single box. Only one of the two-box shipments reached Boise; the other was lost for five days. The single-box shipment didn't arrive until Friday. It seems the issue is that the connecting flight from Seattle to Boise, on which our product is booked, consistently fails to make the scheduled departure.
This week, we shipped 64 lbs of fresh sockeye out of Yakutat yesterday, Tuesday, June 24th. This shipment was not loaded onto its scheduled flight this morning, and despite multiple calls to your customer service agents, who have submitted rebooking requests, it remains unbooked.
As we are four weeks into our 8 week fishing season, these small market shipments are crucial to our livelihood. Our business, which has been processing and shipping salmon from Yakutat throughout June and July since 2004, deeply values the partnership we've built, enabling us to deliver this delicate resource across the United States. However, the past four weeks have been incredibly frustrating, with our product frequently lost or delayed to the point of being on the verge of too much transit time.
We kindly request your urgent attention to resolve whatever is causing these disruptions in Seattle. It is imperative that we prevent the loss of customers we have worked a lifetime to build and maintain.
It is to be noted that we have called and emailed and are now taking to social media so that they can get all hands on deck and get this figured out.
I am going to attach a photo we just received from our freight forwarder in Seattle. This is completely unacceptable and it is not the norm. Never have we received notice of a box damaged. we sent this box out last night!! from Yakutat to Seattle.
