I really need a reset button on today! Finding moldy/bug infested grain, barn cat attacking a clutch of ducklings, catching another calf drinking off Matilda, a sick turkey, cows breaking through a weak point in the fence and then having to chase Peaches through a chest high field filled with stinging nettle and burdocks…. Yup i need to just restart this entire day!!!!

Maisy got her very own weaning ring though… she is so thrilled!

Well i think i need to catch up on butter making today! 4.5 gallons of cream need to be turned into butter and 8 pounds of butter needs to be packaged up…. Can you tell what i will be doing for the next few hours?!?!?

This is a great post!
This is the very best way to support a local farm if you are not ready to jump into Raw milk!!!

Did you know if you want to support a farmer that sells raw milk but feel uneasy about drinking raw milk you can pasteurize it yourself?

Google says

Rapid: Bring your milk to 161 degrees for 15 seconds.
Slow: Or 145 degrees for 30 mins

Immediately after the heating time is complete, plunge the milk container into an ice water bath. Stir frequently until the temperature drops below 68°F, then place it in the refrigerator. Rapid cooling is crucial to prevent the growth of new bacteria

Now let me say I have never pasteurized my own milk but know of others that have.
