There’s something about a stormy sky that makes you stop and look a little longer. 🌩️🌅

This season, we’re choosing to slow down a little. To spend more time around the table, draw closer to family, and make room for the things that matter most.

Sometimes in the middle of building a farm, growing a homestead, running a business, and keeping up with all the moving pieces, it’s easy to forget why we started.

We started this journey for a simpler life. For our family. For the opportunity to grow something together, to teach our kids where their food comes from, to work with our hands, and to build a place that feels like home.

So as the seasons change, we’re reminding ourselves that the goal was never to simply do more.

It was to be present.

To make memories.

To gather our people close.

And to be grateful for the little moments that make all the hard work worth it. 🤍

Maybe this season is a reminder for you, too, to slow down and come back to what started it all.

🍂 THE SEPTEMBER OAK CREEK KITCHEN TABLE IS LIVE! 🍂

September is here, and I am SO excited about this month's subscription. This one feels like a little piece of fall wrapped up and delivered straight from my kitchen table. 🤎

Inside this month's Oak Creek Kitchen Table, we're talking:

☕ Fall at Oak Creek — football season, cozy evenings, warm and decadent foods, finishing up our canning, and yes… my first pumpkin white chocolate oat milk mocha of the season has officially happened.

🍫 My Mocha Chip Sourdough recipe — this is one I've taught in my inclusion classes, and it is SO much fun! I'm encouraging you to play with your inclusions and make it your own. Andes mints? Marshmallows? White chocolate? I won't judge. 😂

🪄 A little Harry Potter magic — because September 1st means our annual Harry Potter marathon re-watch begins, and this month's calendar page features Fynn reading Harry Potter with his wand in hand, making the leaves fly. Because apparently we have our very own little wizard here at Oak Creek.

📅 Your September calendar — a little something pretty and practical to help you head into this busy season.

And, of course, a little peek into our life here at Oak Creek and a heartfelt thank you for being part of our family, especially after a summer that wasn't always easy.

If you've been thinking about joining us around the kitchen table, September is a pretty great month to do it. 🍂

✨ The September edition is LIVE now!

Come pull up a chair. There's always room at our table. 🤎

This past Sunday, I was incredibly honored to be asked by the Phillips family to capture the celebration of life for Jim Phillips. Throughout the day, you could truly feel the impact Jim had on our little town and on the people around him. With more than 500 people coming together to celebrate his life, share memories, laugh, cry, and honor the man he was, it was incredibly moving to witness.

I’ve been given permission by the family to share a few photographs from that day, and I wanted to share them here as well.

To the Phillips family, thank you for trusting me to capture such an important day. It was an absolute honor, and I’m grateful I was able to preserve even a few of the moments and memories that surrounded Jim’s celebration. 🤍

The Last Three 🐖🌱

This morning, our last three pigs of the season are headed to the butcher.

We raise our pigs differently—out on pasture, with room to root, graze, explore, and simply be pigs. For us, raising food is about more than the end product. It’s about being good stewards of the land and creating a system that can be sustainable for years to come.

After these three, we’re taking a break from raising pigs so our pastures can heal. We’ll rotate other animals through, giving the land time to rest, rebuild, and come back to life. 🌱

It means stepping back for a season, but we believe caring for the land is just as important as caring for our animals.

We do still have pasture-raised pork available for sale from this season! If you’ve been wanting to stock your freezer with Oak Creek pork, now is the time. 🐖❤️

Thank you for supporting our little farm and allowing us to do things a little differently. 🌿
