Did you know the first motorized boat was made in 1886? 🛥️

Historians give credit to German engineer Gottlieb Daimler and German shipbuilder Friedrich Lürssen. They named their unprecedented innovation 'Rems.'

Rems was comprised of a combustion engine with a cylinder capacity volume of 0.462 liters, an output of 1.5 horsepower at 700 revolutions per minute, and weighed 60kg (roughly 132 pounds).

Launch day, set in the River Neckar, for Rems and it's creators proved to be anticlimactic, however, as the locals feared this new creation was too dangerous and put a stop to it's test run.

Did you know Nevada is home to what is considered the rarest type of fish?🐟

The Devils Hole Pupfish is a tiny vertebrate that is found exclusively in Devils Hole, a 72-foot cavern in Nevada's Death Valley National Park. The little pupfish is considered critically endangered by conservationists with the last reported population being only 187 fish!

Extra Fun Fact: The cavern these little creatures call home stays a consistent 92 degrees Fahrenheit, which is hot enough to kill most fish! 🔥

Fishy Fun Fact Friday 🐟

Did you know the state record for Flathead Catfish was broken in 2022?

The new record belongs to Iowa man, Ethan Evink, who made the astonishing catch on May 19, 2022 in Union County, on the Missouri River. He defeated the previous state record (63 pounds, 8 ounces) that stood for 16 years by four pounds, using cutbait!

Mr. Evink's record to beat:
67 pounds and 8 ounces
51.5 inches long
32.5 inches in girth
