Just opened this amazing bottle of 1990 Mondavi Reserve - briefly decanted. 🍷 Very reminiscent of a classic Bordeaux. They don’t make Cali Cabs like this anymore! Black cherry and blackberry notes are prominent on the nose along with to***co, dark chocolate and lovely herbaceous notes. The palate still has just the right amount of acidity to balance the red fruit flavors. This wine is peaking right now but still has so much energy!

We opened a bottle of 2015 Solaia at a recent dinner, and it was surprising how approachable this wine was showing 🍷 Bright red fruits are prominent on the nose and palate. Cherry, cassis, leather with just the right touch of oak. It’s incredibly balanced with the fine tannins integrated perfectly. It’s a powerful wine with a long life ahead of it, but it’s so good now!

1995 Dominus was showing beautifully at a recent dinner, with a deep garnet color and no signs of brick edging that would show its age. Aromatically, it offers hints of dark fruits alongside cedar, graphite and earthy undertones. So similar to left bank Bordeaux but with a hint of Napa dust. On the palate, it is medium-full and classically balanced, with savory dark fruit, polished tannins and vibrant acidity carrying the wine through a long, mineral-driven finish. It’s still youthful, and we were blown away at how amazing the 31-year-old bottle showed. INCREDIBLE! 🍷
