There’s a lot of work—and math—involved in the life of a honey bee!🐝

Researchers say honey bees can calculate precise angles and may even comprehend that the earth is round!

We can see their knowledge of angles in the hexagonal construction of their wax cells, honeycomb. Building the comb in the shape of a hexagon maximizes the use of space while using the least amount of wax. This efficiency is necessary since everything (from nectar to eggs) is stored in the cells, and a bee must consume 8oz. of honey to produce 1oz. of wax!

Why is it important to buy US honey?🍯 Honey is honey, it’s all the same right?

Wrong.
Not all honey is created equal!

When you buy honey that was made in the US, you are supporting an American beekeeper who has worked tirelessly to keep his/her bees healthy and supply you with a pure product.

When unfairly traded imports of honey are dumped into our market, it injures the US honey industry and the American beekeeper. Sometimes, this imported “honey” has been found to have additives or been so highly processed, it’s origin is unclear.

The fight against foreign honey being dumped into the US is far from over, but we are making strides!

In June of this year, the US International Trade Commission unanimously agreed that dumped imports of honey from Argentina, Brazil, India, Ukraine, and Vietnam are injuring the US honey industry.

As their investigation continues, we need your support. Please consider donating to this cause so that AHPA can keep advocating for the American honey producer and beekeepers like you!
