Yelm Fresh
Dear Yelm and Surrounding Communities,
You and me, and actually our whole Yelm community, we've got some work to do: to create more farmers, gardeners, ranchers and food producers. There is nothing more important than having local healthy food available, especially in these uncertain times.
How are we going to do that? YELM FRESH to the rescue, an online farmers market, a local food hub coming soon to Yelm with your help. Using the same framework that over 300 already functioning and successful food hubs are using across the country, we want to bring that same experience to our Yelm area.
How can you help? We are holding our first fundraising Garage Sale this coming weekend on May 18-19 (see attached flyer) to raise funds for purchasing the online software that is fundamental to the creation of the Yelm Fresh food hub. You can help by donating good quality used or new items that we can sell at the garage sale. Our goal is to bring in $3300 which will purchase the software and buy the basic technology needed to run it (laptop and printer). That will get us on our way to making Yelm Fresh a reality. P.S. We're also accepting cash donations in addition to garage sale donations. Email us for details on donation protocols, garage sale or money. A BIG THANK YOU!
If you want to know more about our mission and who we are, please check out the website of the grassroots organization that we started in 2019 Food Prosperity Central. The Food Hub was a big part of the mission then as it is now.
For more information on how to donate items for the Garage Sale or any other inquiries about Yelm Fresh, you can reach us by email at [email protected] or by using the online feedback form at https://www.foodprosperitycentral.org/surveys -form .
We ALL have something to contribute. It's about community, about giving and receiving and putting our attention on possibilities. Building community is also enormously rewarding and fun. We really look forward to hearing from you!
To full pantries and knowing where your local food comes from,
Susie Kyle, Amy Malik and the Yelm Fresh Steering Committee
