Bushel & Peck Granola Co. was created by accident in the winter of 2019 in a half-hearted attempt to find something to fill what seemed like endless days of gray. The year prior had been one of the most difficult of my life. It was a year filled with uncertainty, anxiety, stress, disappointment and g

rief. In these difficulties, I found myself looking for a way to bring joy back to myself and the people around me during those long winter days. I've always loved to feed people. I guess it comes down to being able to bring people together in a way that they know someone wants them to feel loved and cared for. Food brings warmth and goodness that nourishes us at the root of who we were created to be and I genuinely love to evoke the potential of others through feeding them. I knew that finding a way to feed those around me would bring back some of the joy that had faded the year prior. I began mixing oats with miscellaneous pantry items and popped my concoction into the oven with the hope of a new gourmet recipe to feed the masses. Well, like most things with high expectations, my attempt was an epic fail. The first 3 batches were almost inedible, the next 2 after that had a weird taste that I still haven't identified, and the next 5-10 after that were just mediocre...but I kept at it and finally our Blueberry Crisp Granola was just what I was hoping to create. I eventually began giving it out to friends who pushed me to sell it. Those of you who know me understand that I'm highly introverted at heart and the idea of selling something I created to the public is not in my comfort zone at all so I decided to stay small and just give it to family and friends. Well sometimes unexpectedly, our plans and our purpose collide and the result is that you just know that the thing you've been resisting is the thing you were meant do do all along. So my friends, that's where Bushel & Peck Granola Co. was born...out of a place of difficulty, joy, warmth, love, friendship, discomfort, and finally purpose. Our purpose at Bushel & Peck Granola Co. is to bring nourishment and happiness to as many tummies as we can. Each bag of granola sold results in 4 meals being donated to individuals who are dealing with food insecurity. All of our granola is prepared in small batches using simple, natural ingredients. Chelsea is the creator behind Bushel & Peck Granola Co. She's a nerdy old soul who loves books (even textbooks), documentaries, Indie Folk, good jeans, NPR, and kind people. When she's not baking, you can find her hanging out with her rad husband and sweet daughter, working at her day job as a Hospice Nurse Practitioner, or throwing a ball for her rambunctious black lab Harper.
