Remember when we low tunnel covered the cantaloupe 🍈 and watermelon 🍉 before frost in early May (1st picture)? The plants were so small. We uncovered them today (2nd picture). They have grown so well under the tunnels the past month. That’s the exciting part. The unexciting part is that we did have some deer 🦌 and other critter damage to plants. The tunnels can get holes in them easily when wildlife runs through the field. Then they enjoyed a buffet of fresh watermelon and cantaloupe plants in several sections.
Farming is a daily battle between hard work, unpredictable weather, and determined critters—but we wouldn’t trade it for anything. 🌱🚜☀️🦌 🌧️ 🐿️
