Our Story

· History: 12 urban growers bought the foreclosed lot in 2011; grew veggies in 2012; planted first fruit trees in 2013; bought adjoining lot in 2016; now have about 30 trees including apples, peaches, cherries, pears, apricots, persimmons, nuts, and pawpaws

· Culture: our project seeks to grow the diversity of membership, including: increasing participation from neighbors every year including on committee; neighbors growing veggies onsite; mowing & shoveling jobs for high school & neighbor kids; collaborating with fellow Southside & citywide urban agriculture folks; and starting neighborhood conversations about food

· CORY fights neighborhood blight, crosses racial divides, builds community, increases healthy food access, demonstrates organic growing
