If you asked America what strength looks like, it’d probably look something like this.

An elite Marine Raider. Nearly twenty years of service. A real-life GI Joe.

The kind of man people assume is too tough to break.

Two years ago today, Gio took his own life.

You never know what people are walking around with.

The second picture matters just as much to me.

Because Gio wasn’t just a warrior.
Afterwards, He spoke up about veterans, mental health, addiction, and the massive problems happening in and around his home in San Diego.

Somebody has to stand up and say the uncomfortable thing out loud.

I only met Gio once, he didn’t deserve to go out that way. And guess what? All the people that loved him inherited the pain he was in.

If you are struggling, don’t pass that pain on to the people that love you.

Check in on your friends. A 10 min phone call can go a long way.

Take care of yourselves and eachother.

Rest easy, Gio.
