I know... it's actually annoying.

But here we are! Time to order your fall bulbs.

Have a deer problem? Plant daffodils. They come back every year, come in fabulous colors and the deer 🦌 don't touch them.

I love showing you all the beautiful flowers I have blooming.

I love seeing what's blooming when so I can decide if I want to try to grow it to.

Delphinium: Guardian Blue
Peony: pink and a blush
Sweet william: white and pink barcelona
Foxglove: not sure the variety, it was supposed to be snow thimble but it's definitely not.
Yarrow: summer pastels
Baptisia: pink truffles

This question always makes me cringe cause it's so hard to answer.

Fertilizer is such a nuanced thing. It totally depends on your soil and your garden.

But I feel pretty confident sharing this one. I have used it for years and I have to say, it grows some pretty amazing flowers.

I get it from and it's good stuff. Worth every penny.

What are your other fertilizer questions?

Let's grow a pain in the butt flower...

One you have to break your back planting in the cold wet fall.

And them dig up, wash, and dry in the cold wet spring.

Doesn't that sound like something the Dutch would think is a great idea. 😆

My love for tulips 🌷 is what I remind myself when every tulip takes 2 min to pull and another 2 minutes to wash.

That doesn't even count the storing and then later cutting off the bulb, rehydrating and then bundling.

They are totally a labor of love.
And I do love them!! ❤️

The best part about growing a cut flower garden is what we call piddling.

You get to piddle here and piddle there. Piddle with your coffee, piddle with your wine.

It's quite relaxing and rewarding.

HERE'S THE DEAL ⬇️

So many people make THIS MISTAKE!

~ If you want to grow a cut flower garden this year, you have to start your flowers from seed or... find someone like me 😀 who grows them for you.

Please don't let this scare you off. With the right plants and a plan, it is really possible to have a successful flower garden, big or small!

ESPECIALLY when you know where to plant your garden, how much space you need, how to care for it, harvest, and arrange your flowers. 💐

It's a very simple process, to be honest, but I highly recommend you do these steps first, BEFORE you buy seeds or plants.

1️⃣ Decide how much time, how much space, and why you are growing flowers.

2️⃣ Gather your necessary supplies, make your plan, and start creating your flower beds.

3️⃣ Figure out your pathways, plant support, and protection from bad weather.

4️⃣ Establish a good watering, fertilizing, and harvesting schedule.

I was getting my steps in the other night. Which meant walking aimlessly around the house cause it was to cold to walk outside.

I was organizing my photos as I was walking. I have like 20 years to go through.

I found these Zinnia photos from this summer. They made me feel so warm and happy. I almost forgot the color we had this summer.

Yesterday, in the morning, we had all this new snow and every branch of every tree or shrub had a beautiful layer of snow on it. The sun was out and it was basically a perfect winter morning.

Today the branches are bare and brown. The sky is filled with grey clouds and I'm feeling tired.

Maybe that's why this quote struck me. I'm feeling it today and this little quote warmed my heart and made me sit, think, and meditate for a minute.
