There are some moments that simply stay with you.
Last night was one of them.
Out of respect for the families and teens involved, this isnāt my story to tell. Their stories belong to them. But I can share what it felt like to stand beside our sons as they continue to navigate the loss of a dear friend.
As a parent, watching your child carry grief is heartbreaking. You want to fix it, take it away, or somehow make the pain lighter. But sometimes the greatest gift isnāt having the right wordsāitās praying the right people step up to walk alongside Brave Spaceame_brave has been that for our family and for so many others in our community. They have been a tremendous answer to prayer, walking with families through the valley and being the hands and feet of Jesus to a hurting community.
They have created a place where teens can be honest, ask hard questions, laugh, cry, remember, and heal together without judgment. They remind our kids that they are not aloneāthat Jesus grieves with them, walks beside them, and offers hope even in the deepest pain.
Last nightās balloon release wasnāt about saying āhappy birthday in heaven.ā It was about remembering a life that mattered, celebrating the love, acceptance, humor, and joy that left such a lasting impact, and choosing to release the guilt, anger, and heaviness that grief can sometimes bring.
As a mom, I am deeply grateful for the people who have shown up for our family and our boys. They have been an answer to prayer and a tangible reminder of Godās presence and steadfast love in one of lifeās hardest seasons.
If your family is walking through something difficult, I hope you find your own Brave Spaceāwhatever that looks like for you.
And if you're looking for a way to invest in the next generation, I encourage you to support the work Brave Space is doing. Every teen deserves a place where they are known, deeply loved, and reminded that hope is never out of reach.
Thank you, Brave Space, for loving our kids so well. You truly are the hands and feet of Jesus, and the way you love these teens is making an eternal difference. "Thank you" will never feel like enough. š¤
