We decided to make a change in our coop. The built in teen pens are gone and in their place we have 2 XXL dog kennels that we previously used for our Dane mixes.
The kennels don't have the trays installed and we left one end of each folded down so it's a single continuous space. They're zip tied together to make them very solid.

When the teens are integrated into the flock we can then fold them up and store them in the entrance area. This restores 15 sq ft of storage in the front!

Mira (LS Marivel) completed her 3rd ride session, she did great!

Working with the horses we still have helped immensely with starting to heal our hearts.

Our beautiful mare Honey injured her suspensory ligament on Friday. Ultrasound today confirmed the injury is very severe. When combined with her medical history and age her odds of recovery and living a quality retired horse life is slim. We've received the heartbreaking recommendation to euthanize and will be saying our final goodbye tomorrow evening with her most loved people comforting her as she passes.

Please give everyone you love an extra hug today.

We are taking precautions, just like so many other farms and barns. Thankfully we don't have much movement on/off the property. Stay safe and love your animals!

With cases of equine herpesvirus appearing in other states, it’s natural to wonder which signs to watch for and what steps help prevent disease. Good biosecurity and early recognition are key to protecting your horse’s health. 🛡🐴
