Prairie Chick Poultry

Prairie Chick Poultry Prairie Chick Poultry has had to make some changes. I am presently keeping my flock as a hobby only and will not have birds for sale anytime in the near future.

If that changes, I will surely post about it and make appropriate changes for everyone. Thanx

If you are within reasonable distance to Zumbrota and in need of layers, I have started pullets available yet. They were hatched between late March and late April. These are from large hatchery stock, not show type, but can be good for a laying flock only. If interested, Please send a DM and we can discuss what is available.

I have not posted in quite a while here since I have had some big life changes that have caused me to pull away from poultry in large part.
I do want to reach out to all of you who have shown interest in my page and in the hobby hopes for all to get through these events with COVID-19 with good health. I know that is a tall order and many will be touched by this virus either directly or indirectly. Please stay home for a few days, enjoy your own poultry or photos of others, or learn ways to improve the flock you have, but please be safe.

As any of you who follow Prairie Chick Poultry know, I have been making cutbacks with my flock these last couple of years. My life has taken a turn in a different direction and I have decided it is time to find new enthusiasts to take on the breeds I have remaining. I will be selling my breeding stock of New Hampshires, Buckeyes and Welsummers, as well as the bantams I have remaining, which aren't all purebred.
I appreciate all the support you have all given me this last decade and hope that our relationship has been as rewarding to you as it has been for me.
Thank you!

The first batch of the year, about 2-months later than I’d hoped, but a good, healthy batch. New Hampshire, Welsummer and Bantam Salmon Faverolles. Hoping to add Buckeyes to the next one.

I’m slowing things down a bit here at Prairie Chick this year. The girls haven’t started back from their vacation from laying yet. I can’t say as I blame them with temps going below zero and staying there the last few days.
Once the girls and boys kick it into gear, I’ll get some test batches run of the birds I have and can start shipping out eggs. This year I have Buckeyes, New Hampshires, Welsummers and Bantam Salmon Faverolles. I also have my mix of EasterEggers that will be aired by either an EE rooster or a Black Ameraucana rooster.
Once I get some eggs, I’ll post with prices and when they’re available.
For those looking for chicks, it doesn’t look likely I’ll be able to swing extra hatching outside of my own needs this year.
Happy New Year, all!

Hello followers! That sounds a bit cultish. yikes!
This Spring and Summer have been a bit rocky for me and my family. It has made me realize I need to scale back further than I intended originally. I will still keep a couple of breeds around, but this means I will not be hatching for sale in the next year or two with the exception of a handful of 4-H orders I will still be willing to fill. I love helping young people experience this wonderful hobby and that means more to me than the rest does.
I will be hatching to replace my own stock and for showing myself, which means I will have excess later in the year when I do. What breeds I will be keeping along with when I might have hatching eggs available will be posted toward the end of the year along with prices and pictures of the stock I will be using.
Perhaps I will have a chance to get some pictures up soon of some of the birds I have been growing out this year as well. ;)

Due to a family illness, I am downsizing my flock. If you are interested in chicks and started juveniles, I have some Silkie chicks, bantam Salmon Faverolles, some mixed bantams I was going to work on as a project line that produced several colors and patterns. I have a few Buckeyes to go as well as New Hampshires and Welsummers, possibly some Cochin chicks.

Things are happening at Prairie Chick Poultry!!!! A near perfect first hatch. One chick got stuck in the shell and didn't make it out, but every other one in the batch did. SO excited for a new year of hatching and raising chickens. I just got my AI testing finished and waiting on the result. I need to finish up testing for P and T Salmonella and once that is in I will be in full swing for hatching eggs to be shipped to wherever folks need them.
There are still a few hens holding out on me, but I am starting to get a nice, stead flow of eggs. Please read my other post on what breeds are available and prices. If you have questions, feel free to shoot me a PM or just post in the comments.
