Friends and supporters,

Elahkwa (thank you) to everyone who has generously supported the Major Market Zuni Flood Relief Fund. Because of your compassion, individual donors have now contributed $1,370, along with a generous $2,500 contribution from Hawikku.org, bringing the total raised to $3,870. Together, these donations will provide 77 gift cards valued at $50 each to help Zuni families recover from the recent flooding.

We would like to recognize and sincerely thank our individual donors:

Candolin Cook
Bernice Wyaco
Sheryl Wyaco & Joe Baca
Chris Hudson
Donnie, Renee, Natalia, Kaya, Peri, and Pat
Lucasti, Caibiya, Jessica, and Shaun
Anonymous Donors

Your generosity is making a direct difference for families in our community.

Because the number of gift cards is limited, Major Market will provide the initial supply of gift cards to the Zuni Tribal Leadership for distribution. Tribal leadership is in the best position to identify the households that have experienced the greatest impacts from the flood and to ensure assistance reaches those with the most immediate needs. We appreciate their leadership and partnership in helping these resources reach our community fairly and efficiently.

This is only the beginning of our relief efforts.

Major Market will continue fundraising and will work diligently to provide additional $50 gift cards as new contributions are received. As more donations come in, we will continue purchasing and distributing gift cards to help more families access food and essential household items during the recovery process.

You can still help.

Major Market has established a gift card program to support families affected by the flood. Gift cards for in-store food and essential purchases can be purchased at:

major-market-inc-zuni.cloveronline.com

Donors may:
Send the gift card QR code directly to an impacted family. Purchase a gift card for themselves to distribute later. Or donate to the general Flood Relief Fund:
Enter your first and last name.
Use [email protected] as the recipient email.
Do not check the box labeled "I want to buy this for myself."
Please include a short message to let us know who you are—we truly appreciate hearing from those standing with our community. Let us know if you want to be recognized as a donor.

Alternatively, you can also donate through the non-profit: https://hawikku.org/donate-to-hawikku/
You'll receive a tax receipt for making a donation.

Every contribution, regardless of size, helps provide food, drinking water, and essential supplies to families working to recover from this disaster.

From our family at Major Market and our partners at Hawikku.org, thank you for standing with the Pueblo of Zuni during this challenging time.

Elahkwa. Together, we will rebuild.

Hawikku’s mission is to harness the power of tradition, entrepreneurship, science, and technology (TEST) to improve quality of life for the Zuni people and sustain our cultural ways of life.

Keshhi,

This is Shaun Tsabetsaye. Today at 11:00 a.m. MST, I will join Native America Calling live to discuss the devastating flood’s impact on the Pueblo of Zuni and our community’s response. Zuni Governor Arden Kucate will also participate, along with a community member who may share firsthand experience of the disaster.

Listen on local public radio or through Native America Calling https://www.nativeamericacalling.com/friday-july-24-2026-zuni-pueblo-responds-to-monsoon-flooding/.
Rebroadcast today on KSHI at 5:00PM MST

I will speak on behalf of my family’s Zuni-owned and operated grocery store, Major Market, Inc., and share how our family and employees responded when flooding disrupted electricity, transportation, water access, and normal business operations.

I will discuss:
* Major Market’s efforts to maintain access to food, drinking water, and essential supplies while other stores were closed or operating with limited services;
* Our work with vendors to procure additional food and supplies for the community;
* How our solar energy and reverse-osmosis water systems supported critical energy and clean drinking-water needs;
* My parents’ Darrell & Roscelia providing decades of servant leadership reinforced by David & Colin extending Major Market’s essential service during the COVID-19 pandemic;
* The inseparable connection between energy security, food security, and water security;
* My work with the Alliance for Tribal Clean Energy to help Tribal Nations prepare for extreme weather, rising costs, and infrastructure disruptions.

We respectfully ask for the patience, understanding, and continued support of our customers and community. Major Market is working diligently to procure the food, water, supplies, and services most urgently needed. Like many others, we are navigating transportation challenges, limited inventories, disrupted supply chains, and extraordinary demand.

We are deeply grateful to our employees, vendors, volunteers, donors, and supporters within Zuni and beyond the reservation who are working together to assist our community. Every delivery, donation, volunteer hour, and act of kindness is helping Zuni families through this emergency and into recovery.

Major Market has also established a gift-card option to support families displaced by the flood. Gift cards for in-store food and essential purchases can be purchased at:

Locally owned Tribal businesses are more than economic enterprises; they are essential community infrastructure. Zuni people have endured profound challenges throughout our history, and the strength and guidance of our ancestors continue to carry us forward.

Elahkwa to everyone standing with the Zuni people. Please continue to be patient with our team, support one another, and keep our community in your thoughts and prayers.
