🥃 THE MACALLAN WHISKY
📜 HISTORY
The Macallan is one of the world’s most prestigious single malt Scotch whiskies.
- Founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid
- Located in Speyside, Scotland
- One of the first licensed distilleries in Scotland
- Known for premium quality and craftsmanship
- Famous for sherry-seasoned oak casks
- Considered a global luxury whisky brand
🏭 PRODUCTION PROCESS (STEP BY STEP)
1. Malting
Barley is soaked in water, allowed to germinate, then dried to stop the process.
2. Mashing
Dried malt is ground into grist and mixed with hot water to extract sugars (wort).
3. Fermentation
Yeast is added to wort → produces alcohol (6–8% ABV) called “wash”.
4. Distillation
Distilled in small copper pot stills → creates rich and full-bodied spirit.
5. Maturation
Aged in oak casks (mainly sherry-seasoned & bourbon casks).
Aging greatly affects flavor and color.
6. Bottling
Filtered, diluted to desired strength, then bottled.
