HOME COOKING CLASS
Visit a traditional outdoor market with instructor, you’ll walk through stalls loaded with farm fresh vegetables, fruit, meat, …, prepared food and even household items! Immerse yourself by talking to local vendors, ask about ingredients, and see how people buy food. We will help you bargain to pick out the freshest ingredients for the meal.
After the market, coming back the local house, the instructor will teach you the history of this salty condiment and why it has become a steadfast in Vietnamese cuisine and make 1-2 traditional dishes from scratch. Combined with verdant vegetables (yin) and natural herbal flavor you’ll witness one way how Vietnamese people balance their food and why fish sauce has become a steadfast at Vietnamese meals. Enjoy the food of your cooking lesson while the local cooker share more insight into Vietnamese culture. Learn why families often eat on woven mats, how Vietnamese eat by sight and smell before taste, and why food is placed on the altar. Your hands-on cooking lesson will last about 1.5 – 2 hours.
