Loại củ "tốt nhất thế giới" trồng bạt ngàn tại Việt Nam
✨The 'world's best' root vegetable grown endlessly across VietNam

According to the CDC's rankings, this root vegetable ranks 4th on the list of the most nutrient dense vegetables on the planet, surpassing a host of other familiar fruits and vegetables.
Few people know that the humble beetroot ranks among the top 10 best vegetables in the world, rated highly by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for its superior nutrient density.
According to the CDC's rankings, beetroot ranks 4th on the list of the most nutrient dense vegetables on the planet, outperforming many other familiar vegetables. What's worth mentioning is that in Vietnam, beetroot is not a rare commodity: Rather, it is cultivated abundantly across many regions.
What makes beetroot stand out is its distinctive dark purplish red color. This hue comes from betacyanin, a pigment belonging to the betalain group, which possesses powerful antioxidant properties.
In every 100g of raw beetroot, there are approximately:
- 43 kcal
- 88% water
- 1.6g protein
- 9.6g carbohydrates, of which 6.8g are natural sugars
- 2.8g fiber
Both beetroot and its leaves contain numerous vitamins and minerals such as folate, potassium, iron, and vitamin C, alongside plant compounds that benefit cardiovascular and metabolic health.
Why is Beetroot Called a Gift for Health?
Natural Blood Pressure Reduction
Beetroot is exceptionally rich in inorganic nitrates. Once inside the body, these are converted into nitric oxide, helping to dilate blood vessels and improve circulation. Numerous studies note that drinking beetroot juice or eating beetroot can help lower blood pressure by 3 to 10 mmHg within just a few hours a significant figure for individuals with hypertension.
Boosts Endurance and Physical Stamina
Thanks to its ability to help the body utilize oxygen more efficiently, beetroot is used by many athletes as a "natural booster" for running, cycling, and high-intensity gym workouts. Beetroot juice frequently appears in the pre competition menus of many professional cyclists.
Anti inflammatory and Antioxidant Properties
The betalain pigment in beetroot possesses strong anti-inflammatory traits. Chronic inflammation is the underlying factor for a series of conditions such as cardiovascular disease, obesity, diabetes, and cancer; therefore, supplementing with betalain rich foods is considered a way to protect the body from the root.
Beneficial for Digestion
With nearly 3g of fiber per 100g, beetroot helps nourish beneficial gut bacteria, promotes bowel motility, and prevents constipation. A fiber rich diet from vegetables like beetroot is also linked to a lower risk of type 2 diabetes and heart disease.
Brain Support
The nitrates in beetroot are not only good for cardiac blood vessels but also help increase blood flow to the brain, especially in regions associated with memory and decision making. Consequently, beetroot is thought to help slow down cognitive decline in old age.
Potential Cancer Fighting Properties
Laboratory studies show that beetroot extract can slow the growth of breast and prostate cancer cells. While this is not yet a medical treatment, it demonstrates the massive potential of this rustic vegetable in a disease prevention diet.
Weight Management Support
Low in calories, high in water and fiber, beetroot creates a long lasting feeling of fullness without causing excess energy intake. This is an ideal food for anyone pursuing a healthy diet or weight loss.
Versatile Preparation Methods
In Vietnam, beetroot is prepared in many ways. The most popular is beetroot juice, usually blended with apple, carrot, or orange to make it easier to drink.
Additionally, there is beetroot soup simmered with pork bones, boiled beetroot dipped in sesame salt, beetroot salad tossed with oil and vinegar, or Western style roasted beetroot. The natural red color of beetroot is also used to color sticky rice, cakes, and desserts.
