🇻🇳 VIETNAMESE COFFEE GOES FURTHER – THE NEXT OPPORTUNITY LIES IN VALUE-ADDED PROCESSING AND FLAVOUR
☕ Vietnamese coffee is now exported to more than 80 countries and territories, with key markets including Germany, the United States, Italy, China and Japan. According to the attached source, Vietnam remains the world’s second-largest coffee exporter, behind Brazil.
What matters is not only market reach, but also how consumer and product expectations differ across regions.
🇩🇪 Germany accounts for approximately 14–15% of Vietnam’s total coffee export value.
🇺🇸 In the United States, coffee exports were valued at around USD 610 million in 2025, supported by demand for roasted Robusta and instant coffee.
🌏 China is emerging as a fast-growing market. In 2024, Vietnam exported around 24,100 tonnes, worth approximately USD 101 million, representing nearly 170% growth in value year on year. Meanwhile, Japan remains a stable, quality-focused market with demand for wet-processed Robusta and instant coffee.
🔬 FROM COFFEE BEANS TO MARKET-SPECIFIC FLAVOUR PROFILES
For F&B manufacturers, expanding exports creates a new R&D challenge: different markets do not necessarily look for the same coffee experience.
One concept may require bold Roasted, Cocoa and Nutty notes, while another may benefit from Creamy, Caramel and Milky profiles for milk coffee and RTD applications. Instant coffee, desserts and beverages may require cleaner, more balanced and highly consistent flavour systems.
This creates opportunities for coffee flavours, dairy flavours, chocolate, caramel, nutty notes and flavour modulation solutions to help manufacturers tailor products for specific target markets.
✨ Exports expand the market. Deeper processing and distinctive flavour create higher product value.
