Lunch Bunch That little gathering in An Bang grew into Lunch Bunch Hoi An—a not-for-profit, roaming lunch club bringing food and company to different venues around town.

Back in May 2020, Chris and Steve had a simple idea: sit down with good people, enjoy a few beers, and cook the kinds of comfort food we miss (think rissoles/meatballs, mash… the good stuff!). Now 5½ years later, we’re still at it every couple of weeks with a fun mix of expats, long-term visitors, and curious travelers. Come hungry, leave happy, and make a few new mates along the way.

Join us Friday, August 14, as Lunch Bunch Hoi An heads to Purple Lantern 2.

The original Purple Lantern at An Bang Beach has been a local favourite for many years, earning a reputation for consistently excellent food and outstanding reviews. Purple Lantern 2 opened just over 12 months ago and quickly built its own loyal following.
You can always count on a great meal here.

Friday's menu:
Hoi An wontons with shrimp and pork
Pomelo salad with shrimp and chicken
Hoi An deep-fried vegetarian spring rolls
Hoi An crispy pancake with seafood
BBQ pork ribs with caramelised sauce
Morning glory with garlic

Join us for a complimentary one-hour boat cruise before enjoying an exceptional dinner buffet at Traders Waterfront, Little Riverside Luxury Hotel.

Dinner is served from 6.30 pm to 9.30 pm and features a superb BBQ buffet with fresh seafood, grilled meats, local specialties and international favourites, along with a wide selection of salads, cheeses, cold cuts, desserts and tropical fruits. Live music will provide the perfect backdrop for another enjoyable evening by the river.

Back to Where It All Began...
Born in May 2020, during COVID, Lunch Bunch was a way for local expats to get back to some sort of normalcy.

My mate Steve and I started getting people together at what is now Sports Bar An Bang Beach.

When the original venue closed in December 2020, I approached local restaurants to see if they'd host us with a set price menu, and six plus years later, LB is still going strong.

I hope you like seafood!
Here it's fresh as because the family are fisher people.
Bao Han Restaurant was one of the first venues to welcome us.
Phi’s always served exceptional food and looked after our group so well, it seems only fitting that we're heading back to where much of the journey began.

Join us at WAFAIFO for another Lunch Bunch gathering on Friday 3 July.

Arrive any time from 11.45am, with food service beginning at approximately 12.30pm. We will be downstairs by the pool with the barbecue set up and chicken skewers cooking away.

For the main course, enjoy a fresh garden salad with your choice of dressing, followed by pasta prepared in a cheese wheel. If you have never seen this before, it is quite a spectacle..

Choose from spaghetti, penne or fettuccine, served with either carbonara, mushroom or tomato sauce. Each person will receive one portion of pasta, one plate of mixed salad and three chicken skewers with satay sauce.

All beverages will be available at a 20% discount.

The price is 250,000 VND per person. Please pay on arrival.
