Sunshine Pacific Limited Launches PREO Solar Project in Major Renewable Energy Milestone

Sunshine Pacific Limited today marked a significant milestone with the official launch and switching-on of its PREO Solar Project, reinforcing the company’s commitment to renewable energy and sustainable agriculture in Samoa.

The PREO (Powering Renewable Energy Opportunities) project, funded by IKEA Foundation, and UK Aid through Carbon Trust. This initiative, integrates solar energy systems to power Sunshine’s Hydroponics/Poultry operations. The initiative is designed to reduce operational costs, lower carbon emissions, and support long-term sustainable food production.

The official switching-on ceremony was conducted by Mr. Daniel Garlick (UK Deputy Commissioner) alongside Tapunuu Pitovaomanaia MayDay LH, Farm Director of Sunshine Pacific Limited. Their joint activation of the solar system symbolized a new chapter for the company as it advances climate-resilient and environmentally responsible farming practices.

The event commenced with a thanksgiving worship led by Rev. Toalesavili Hugh, who offered blessings for the success and sustainability of the project. His message highlighted the importance of stewardship, innovation, and community partnership in national development.

Following the formal proceedings, invited guests and partners were given guided access to the hydroponics farms, where Sunshine Pacific Limited demonstrated the growth and progress achieved over the years. The tour provided insight into how renewable energy integration will further strengthen production efficiency and agricultural innovation.

Special acknowledgment was extended to valued partners who funded and supported this journey — Carbon Trust, PREO, UKAid, IKEA Foundation, Spectrum Group Limited and the University of the South Pacific (USP) and Frankie Company Limited. Their collaboration and commitment to renewable energy development have been instrumental in making this project a reality.

Today’s launch reflects Sunshine Pacific Limited’s strong strategic partnerships and continued investment in clean energy solutions. It also represents the successful achievement of one of the company’s key goals set at the beginning of the year — now realized through vision, resilience, and collective effort.

The event concluded on a high note, marking a new milestone for Sunshine Pacific Limited as it continues to lead sustainable agriculture development and climate resilience initiatives in Samoa.

🌱 Collaboration, Growth & a Sustainable Future 🌞

Today’s Samoa Association of Manufacturers and Exporters (SAME) meeting at Hotel Elisa, Sogi, brought together industry leaders with one shared goal — strengthening Samoa’s manufacturing and export sector through collaboration and innovation.

Proudly sponsored by Sunshine Pacific Limited, the meeting highlighted the power of partnerships and progress. The session concluded with remarks from Sunshine Pacific Limited Director Tapunuu Pitovaomanaia MayDay LH, reflecting on the importance of unity, resilience, and forward-thinking leadership in building a sustainable future for Samoa.

A key highlight of the meeting was the presentation by Farm Manager Oliver Cris Ubaub, who shared Sunshine Pacific Limited’s journey of growth and achievement over the years. His presentation showcased how innovation, strong teamwork, and strategic partnerships have supported Sunshine’s success in advancing sustainable agriculture and food production.

We extend our sincere gratitude to our valued partners who continue to support this journey:
🤝 Carbon Trust
🤝 Powering Renewable Energy Opportunities (Preo)
🤝 Market Development Facility (MDF)
🤝 World Vegetable Center
🤝 Asian Development Bank (ADB)
🤝 University of the South Pacific (USP)

Together, these partnerships have helped drive impactful initiatives and long-term development across the sector.

The meeting also marked an exciting milestone with the announcement of the Preo Solar Project, launching on 12 February 2026. This initiative will integrate renewable solar energy into Sunshine Pacific’s hydroponics systems — reducing operational costs, lowering carbon emissions, and ensuring sustainable food production for generations to come.

As SAME continues to build strong networks across industries, today’s gathering served as a powerful reminder that when businesses collaborate, innovation thrives and sustainable futures are built. 🌍✨
