It was just a stupid idea!
It’s nearly 7 years since we went on the stupid mission to open York Cocoa Works - our plan was to build a completely open and transparent chocolate Manufactory.
Well that was all a bit stupid wasn’t it?
A stupidly big ambitious plan to bring chocolate making back to York and compete against all those big makers.
We wanted so desperately to do chocolate making differently, we only wanted to use good cocoa beans to make good chocolate. We thought to be able to do this we needed cocoa to be sustainable and for this the cocoa needed to be tracable so we could be clear the farmers could get good money for good practices creating great beans!
How stupid were we?
Why on earth would we bother to put so much effort in when everyone else seems to succeed using mass, ultra-processed chocolate using mouldy, cheap beans?
I used to love that chocolate but once I learned and saw how it was made and what it was made with I decided it was much better to be stupidly committed to our vision than keep eating such stuff!
We’re going to spend 2025 happily, stupidly, proudly making chocolate - you’re welcome to join us - in fact we really hope you do!
