One of the sweetest parts of hosting our Venue Tour + Vendor Meet & Greet each year is meeting the people behind the love stories. And wow…Leagh & Chuck certainly left a mark on us.

After winning our Grand Prize Giveaway, they shared something that completely caught us off guard: since they were already booked with us, they asked if they could gift the Sweet Spigot Special Event Package ($2,900 value) to another couple instead.

I mean…come on🥹

The more we got to know them, the more inspired we became by their kindness, joy, and genuine presence. We later learned they're in the middle of conquering cancer, something you truly never would’ve known by the way they carried themselves with so much warmth and positivity.

Moments like this are exactly why we host this event.
Not just to showcase a venue, but to bring amazing people together and build a community that feels bigger than weddings alone.

We stumbled upon liquid gold for the forest floor.🍄‍🟫🍄‍🟫🍄‍🟫

Every spring, people travel all over the Midwest hunting for morel mushrooms. We hear stories of hours spent foraging, secret spots, and the thrill of a lucky find.

Meanwhile…we’ve been carefully tiptoeing around our own woods, trying not to step on patches full of them.

A few years ago, we started noticing something interesting after spreading our homemade maple-based soil enhancer throughout the woods. Morels began popping up exactly where we spread it and suddenly, it all started to make sense.

Morels thrive in loose, mineral-rich soil with organic matter, natural sugars, moisture retention, and healthy fungal activity. They especially love environments around hardwoods like maple, ash, and elm. Growers also note that morels respond well to nutrient-rich organic material, sandy soil structure, calcium, magnesium, and carbon sources that feed microbial life.

Our maple-based booster naturally contains minerals like calcium and magnesium, along with organic compounds that help support beneficial soil microbes and fungi.

Basically…we were tossing it back into the woods and accidentally created a morel paradise.

What started as a simple part of maple season has inspired something much bigger, and we’re excited to finally share it with fellow enthusiasts during our next maple harvest.

That’s exactly why we’re hosting our Venue Tour + Vendor Meet & Greet this weekend.

This Small Business Week feels extra special around the farm.

We’re incredibly honored to share that Sweet Spigot has been named a 2026 Micro Business of the Year by Michigan Celebrates Small Business.

What started as a small family hobby 5 generations ago has slowly grown into something this next generation is incredibly proud to carry forward.

Our journey here hasn’t exactly been a straight line. After the 2008 economic crash, our family took a leap of faith, sold nearly everything, and started fresh in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Somewhere between the cold weather, muddy boots, maple seasons, learning curves, and countless cups of coffee, this little maple dream kept growing.

And honestly…we're still growing.

What has deep roots now has new beginnings, and we’re excited for what’s ahead. Maple workshops, farm stays, farm-to-table dinners, more weddings at the venue, and new ways to bring people together through this land we love so much.

Most importantly, none of this would be without the people who have supported us along the way.
