Priest Ranch Winemaker Dinner Series

Dover Hall Manakin-Sabot, VA
Thursday, Feb 26 from 6:30pm to 9:30pm

Discover Priest Ranch wines through a winemaker-led, five-course dinner with seasonal pairings highlighting Napa Valley terroir.

In collaboration with the Chaine de Rotisseurs, La Société Mondiale du Vin, and the Ordre Mondial des Gourmets Dégustateurs

The Priest Ranch Wine Dinner at Dover Hall is an intimate five-course culinary experience celebrating the wines of Priest Ranch, crafted from estate vineyards across the historic Somerston Estate in Napa Valley. The evening is guided by Executive Chef Leah Randolph alongside Winemaker Cody Hurd, who will lead guests through the structure, intention, and site-driven philosophy behind each wine.

Hurd brings a thoughtful, precision-focused approach to winemaking, shaped by hands-on experience across Napa Valley and a deep respect for Somerston’s rugged terrain. Working with vineyards that span dramatic elevations, rocky hillsides, and diverse soil compositions, he is known for crafting wines that balance power with restraint—allowing purity of fruit and sense of place to take center stage.
A highlight of the evening is Course III, where coffee-braised short rib—finished with potato foam, dill oil, and crisped russet chip—is paired with Priest Ranch, Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine’s dark fruit, structured tannins, and savory undertones echo the richness of the dish while cutting through its depth, creating a pairing that is both bold and beautifully composed.

“Great wines are born from land that challenges you, inspires you, and ultimately rewards patience. At Priest Ranch, every bottle tells the story of where it comes from.”
— Priest Ranch Philosophy

Richmond Memories 🥖
La Petite France in Richmond

For decades La Petite France was Richmond’s go-to place for classic French dining. Under the long stewardship of Chef Paul Elbling and his wife Marie Antoinette (in the photo), the restaurant became known for dishes like escargot, duck à l’orange, and perfectly turned soufflés, served with warm, attentive hospitality that felt distinctly old world.

The Elblings ran the restaurant for more than 35 years, making it the spot for anniversaries, engagements, and special nights out. Though the restaurant closed in the early 2000s, memories of dressing up for dinner and savoring a little bit of France in Richmond remain vivid for those who dined there. Marie Antoinette Elbling passed away in 2020, and her generosity and welcome are still remembered by the community.
