Just want to share how amazing our almost 32 year old mare is looking 🩷 She even treated me to a nice ba****ck walk down the trail today and didn’t believe me we were only walking haha

A little TLC and 24/7 turnout does wonders for the old ones.

With Sarah off work things add up quickly.

If anyone is able to help, even just share it would be greatly appreciated. The travel for treatments adds up quickly. Along with needing to keep maintenance on the car for all the travel.

Thank you đź©·

Hi friends! Sorry it’s been so long since we have done an update.

Things have definitely been hectic and busy on the farm. Maryanne is entering grade 1 this fall and Jacob is starting preschool.

Things on the horse side have been fairly uneventful. Mary has outgrown riding Ernie for the most part, but she’s taking the reins on our amazing boarder horse Sammy who’s a 21 year old Akhal Teke. Lucky girl to get the reins of such a special and endangered breed of horse.

On the rough side of things, Sarah has been diagnosed with Stage 3 Invasive Carcinoma Breast Cancer and is in the middle of intense chemo before facing surgery and radiation. So she’s been off work dealing with her health.

The horses however are still being spoiled and loved 🙂

Once we get Elly out for training she will become Mary’s horse and Jake is now riding Ernie 🙂

The horses got some blanket free time today and I couldn’t help but admire how fabulous and wise our old mare Ephy looks.

Queen Ephy is 28 this year and still spry as ever ❤️

She was even leading the herd when they were running off some sillies!

Every senior horse needs their own little girl ❤️ The bond between Ephy and Maryanne is the sweetest thing.

It’s been a long time since we have posted on here. Life has been very busy! Our daughter Maryanne is now 2.5 and we also have a handsome 9 month old son Jacob!

Ephy, our old girl is now 27 and still spry as ever and looking amazing! She is basically retired but is loving giving pony rides to Maryanne. She is a puppy dog for Maryanne and it’s so fun to watch.

On Sunday, June 10, our very special barn kitty, Derpy, passed away.

Derpy Boy was a special kitty who we nursed to health when we found him behind a hay bale in the barn. He was born to a young feral Mom who just didn’t know how to care for her babies.

We thought we were going to lose him a few times those first couple of months. But he slowly came around. He was never 100% healthy so we knew he wasn’t going to live a long life. But he lived a very special and pampered life for a barn kitty. He never wanted to be inside though so we let him hang between the barn and garage with Momma Cat, and come in the house for love when he wanted and left when he wanted.

He would join us for walks around the property and in the woods, he would sit outside the house and watch us just hanging out. He watched over the chickens and hung out with the horses.

Derpy Boy was loved deeply and we enjoyed every moment we had with him.

He is laid to rest outside the back pasture where he liked to lounge on one of the old hay bales.

RIP Derpy Kitty. We will never forget you ❤️

This outbreak is in the Fredericton area now - and is wide speculation that there are a number of unreported cases throughout New Brunswick.

Fortunately, our horses are all healthy, and we will continue to insist that anyone who comes for lessons must wear a complete change of clothes and footwear. You can borrow one of our helmets. You will be asked to disinfect your boots.

Thank you for your understanding and support!

With the recent strangles outbreak in the maritimes we ask anyone coming to our barn to please avoid contact with our horses muzzles, wear clean clothing that hasn’t been in another barn and clean footwear.

Also we will not be allowing outside horses on our property until the outbreak has passed. The vaccine does not protect against all strains of strangles and we do have a senior horse here, strangles can be even more dangerous in seniors and foals. Even if your horse does not present with symptoms, they can be a carrier.

Thank you for your understanding ❤️

Information on strangles.
