5AM, November 9, 2025

Uwan is now nearing super typhoon strength as it barrels down on Catanduanes.

Wind signal no. 4 is hoisted over Polillo Islands, eastern and central Camarines Norte, eastern Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, and eastern Albay.

Metro Manila and 32 other areas are also now placed under Signal no. 3.

At 4 a.m. Sunday, the Uwan was located 195 km east of Virac, Catanduanes with winds of 175 kph and gusts up to 215 kph.

It is moving west northwestward at 35 kph.

Uwan will intensify further and reach super typhoon strength.

It will pass very close to Catanduanes this morning and make another landfall over Aurora this evening or early Monday.

A direct hit or landfall over Catanduanes is possible due to the storm’s current proximity.

Life-threatening storm surge exceeding three meters may be experienced along the coasts of Bicol, Quezon, Aurora, Isabela, Cagayan, La Union, and Pangasinan.

Uwan will also bring heavy rains across Eastern Visayas and Luzon during its passage, with torrential rains expected in:

• Bicol, Quezon, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Cagayan Valley today
• parts of Cordillera, Ilocos, and Central Luzon

Uwan will weaken significantly while crossing the mountainous terrain of Northern Luzon but remain a typhoon.

It will be over the West Philippine Sea Monday morning.
