Gentle reflection and heartfelt gratitude..
Hello THG community!
I hope all of you are doing well and staying safe during these wild and turbulent times. This winter reflection comes to you during a very warm (90 degrees!) March day to announce that as of March 1st, The Happy Grazer will be closed. It took much consideration and many honest, heart centered conversations with my amazing support group of friends and family, whom I am so honored to have in my life.
Acknowledging the transition
During this transition, so many emotions, thoughts, feelings, and everything in between has come up. This winter has been a time to process, making sure to sit with all the waves of emotions that are present like fear, grief, happiness, relief, and so many more.
I have known for a long time that The Happy Grazer in its current form feels incomplete, as if this is only a rough draft of how I desire to be of service to our community. And while the journey of THG has been fulfilling in so many ways, the time has arrived for me to take the courageous step to close one door while setting sights on another. Acknowledging this space of transition that I find myself in, it feels right at this moment to take The Happy Grazer off my plate, or shall I say off the grazing table, to allow the next iteration to come through.
There is so much gratitude for all of you who have supported me and my work for the last 2 years. I cherish every connection and relationship that I have made through this journey.
What is next?
As many of you know, I love the garden. Over the last 4.5 years, I dove into all things plants, permaculture and herbalism.
One of my many wonderful teachers on this plant path is Caroline Riley with Mutable Earth Botanicals, located in Austin. And in the spirit of transition that seems so prominent at this time, she is moving to the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina with her family. Dreamy! She has graciously asked if I would continue stewardship of the food forest and apothecary space at Whole Life Learning Center. I humbly agreed!
My new project will be Sacred Seed Botanicals located at Whole Life Learning Center. There, I will work out of a dreamy yurt space as the apothecary for Sacred Seed Botanicals, creating seasonal herbal remedies from plants grown on site in the half acre food forest. I plan to host community events such as Community Herbalism days, which are always free! As well as other events, classes, and will be introducing a seasonal series called Meet the Medicines-A Plant Study Circle. More details coming soon!
This isn't a final goodbye
For me, food has and always will be the great connecter to people and the land. Preparing a meal is my love language. It can be a beautiful entryway to learn about the many different people and cultures that exist around us. In my opinion, it's the BEST way to get to know your neighbors. There is so much healing behind sharing a meal with people you love or even with strangers. This part will always be with me.
Although I can't quite see it yet, I feel deep in my bones that food will make its way around and integrate itself back into my life and within the Sacred Seed Botanicals. I trust that fact whole heartly.
