Can you guess how many pumpkin plants we planted?

In October we have a u pick pumpkin patch, but the work on the patch starts far sooner than October.
Over the past month in a half our team weeded the field, laid down irrigation, and planted a variety of pumpkin starts.
Work isn't over but it's all in the ground now 🎃

This Saturday, June 20th, from 10am - 3pm we are hosting a makers market.
We are situated in Mill Bay, BC right off Highway 1, the perfect stop to make on the first weekend of the summer on Vancouver Island.

We are so excited to host -
who makes beautifully sewn bags,
making hand crafted candles in so many fun and unique shapes
a local farm stand that makes, bakes, and grows flowers
a potter who crafts fun and functional pottery creates is also back for their second market showing off their jewelry and paintings

Bring your friends and family, enjoy ice cream on our patio and Live Music, all while supporting local artist, artisans, and farmers.

Not your average grocery store, for a very good reason! 🍓

We are so lucky to have so many local farms on Vancouver Island and get the opportunity to produce our own food as well.

Filling up the fridge full of fresh local produce feels so good. Making my dinners while supporting local farms is something I am so thankful for.

On top of all that we get to make yummy food and feed our community 🤩

Stop by sometime, we are located right off highway 1 in Mill bay, BC. Just a 30 min drive from Langford, right down the road from cobble Hill and shawnigan lake, and a 20 min drive from downtown Duncan!

Recipe below 👇

The strawberries are so ripe on
& They are only $69 for 12 pints at Sweet Meadows 🍓🙂‍↕️

Make your own strawberry matcha 🍓🍵
What you need :

A cup & a baby whisk (a fork will work but not as well)

8 med strawberries cut up & mashed
3/4 cup Milk of your choice (I prefer oat!)
1 1/2 tsp of organic matcha powder

Optional - a sprinkle of sugar

We are going through 12 pints a week at home right now, partially thanks to this drink.

Im having my matcha mid day as a little pick me up and I'll be so sad when strawberry season is over.

Make sure to get your pints before it's too late 👏

We are located between Duncan and Langford right off highway 1, the perfect little stop on your trip across island.
Enjoy our ice cream made on the farm and sit on our beautiful outdoor patio!
We have a variety of gluten free and vegan options for our ice cream.

Organic Garlic Scapes are only $5/lb right now and you know what that means...

Garlic Scape pesto is a a beautiful spring version of traditional pesto and it's so easy to customize.

You can utilize any nut of your choice, we just had some pine nuts to use up but I also love my pesto with walnuts or pumpkin seeds.

Of course you can opt for traditional Parmesan instead of Nutritional yeast (or you could do both).

Here is the recipe!
1 Bunch of Garlic Scapes (around 175g)
2 sprigs of Basil (35g)
Juice of one medium sized lemon
1/4 cup Nutritional Yeast (or parmesan)
1/3 cup Olive Oil
1/3 cup pine nuts (or any nuts of your choice)

Now, you don't have to be exact here, I differ to tasting as I go and deciding what I want.

This pesto keeps for 1 week in the fridge or for 6 months in the freezer (I love my silicon freezer mold to help me portion it).

How to cook with Garlic Scapes ⬇️

They are similar in texture to asparagus so they can be pan fried and make a great addition to pasta dishes

Last night we chopped some up and added it to our fried rice!

But you can also make tons of pesto with it and it freezes up great to make a beautiful addition to any pasta dish.
