Cattle breeding is both a challenging and a richly rewarding exercise. At Whyte Bank Farms initially, almost every breed under the sun was tried and tested through AI. The search was for a breed that was adaptable, fertile with good growth and carcass characteristics. For us the search came to an end in 1997 when we were given semen from an ๐๐ฑ๐๐๐ฉ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐๐ฅ ๐๐ซ๐๐ง๐ ๐ฎ๐ฌ ๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ฅ--- ๐๐๐ฆ๐ฎ๐๐ฅ, from Alan Greens Harmony Farms stud herd in Natal. When his calves landed, we needed to look no further! The Promise of these first Brangus calves was not only fulfilled but went from strength to strength with every generation!
However, of great significance and impact to our breeding goals have been the four top bulls that we have used over the years. John Baxterโs TX 93 15โRed King, Jeff Rosewellโs JJR 96 30, Oom John Robertโs MV 00 399โBig Boy, Oom Ferdi Naudeโs V5 99 103. These stud sires all contributed to the herd today in breeding ๐๐๐ซ๐ญ๐ข๐ฅ๐, ๐๐ฎ๐ง๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐๐ฅ ๐๐จ๐ฐ๐ฌ ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ญ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐๐ฎ๐๐ ๐ข๐ง ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐ฆ๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐ญ๐๐ข๐ง ๐ฏ๐๐ฅ๐.
