The Oryx: Africa's Desert Warrior

There's something about seeing your first Gemsbuck out in the open. That black-and-white face, those long straight horns catching the light. It stops you in your tracks every time.

They're tough animals, too. They can go days without water, and they don't miss much. You'll spot one, start your stalk, and more often than not it's already watching you.

That's exactly why we hunt them on foot, fair chase. It takes patience, and it doesn't always go your way, but when it does, it's a hunt you'll remember.

Three Generations of Burgers — Another Memorable Hunt at Belvedere.

For their third hunt at Belvedere this year, we once again had the great pleasure and honour of welcoming three generations of the Burger family.

It was another fantastic hunt with this wonderful family. They took some incredible animals, but just as importantly, there were plenty of laughs, great memories and good times shared along the way. It is always a privilege to share the beauty of nature and the Belvedere experience with such a special family.

This hunt was also a game changer when it came to some long-range hunting, using the 7mm PRC Sako S20 Hunter, fitted with a Swarovski Optik DS 5–25x52 Gen 2 and loaded with Hornady Precision Hunter 175gr ELD-X am******on.

We also put the much-respected and trusted Arken Optics EPL-4 6–24x50 FFP Illuminated and Arken Optics EPL-4 4–16x44 FFP Illuminated through their paces on various calibres.

Fantastic shots across all the combinations and some truly memorable moments in the field.

Thank you, Burger family, for another incredible hunt at Belvedere. We look forward to welcoming all three generations back again soon!

We had to cape this Kudu Bull on top of the mountain after we got him. This is a skill. Careful, precise caping in the field, protecting the cape for a trophy mount that does the animal justice.
Every cut matters, from the brisket line to the ears and lips, all done right there in the bush with steady hands and years of experience.

It's a job that takes patience, sharp knives and real know-how, because a rushed cape can ruin a once-in-a-lifetime trophy.

Three ribbok. Three habitats. One serious challenge.

The Ribbok Slam brings together South Africa's three "ribbok" species, each demanding a completely different hunt:

🏔️ Vaal Rhebuck - high mountain country, open slopes, long-range shots on an animal with exceptional eyesight.

🌾 Mountain Reedbuck - rocky hillsides and broken ground, often hunted with careful glassing and a patient stalk.

🌿 Common Reedbuck - vleis, grasslands and reed beds, a hunt built on stealth and reading the wind.

Completing the slam means mastering mountain, valley and grassland alike, true free-range hunting at its finest, right here in the Eastern Cape.
