The Small Things Make the Best Braai 🔥

Camping and braai go hand in hand. But your peace gets disturbed before the first flame, because where do you chop the wood? There's no proper surface, and you risk breaking a few of the campsite's pavers. 🪓

At Modubu Lodge, we thought of that. Every campsite has its own chopping block, right next to our durable, versatile and movable braais.

A painted wall became a wall of stone, and every rock came from our grounds.

At Modubu Lodge we believe peace and tranquility lie in the details too. Cladding this wall with local bushveld rock lets the veranda blend into the landscape it looks out on.

A big thank you to Andrew and Petrus (two of our workers living our vision), who gathered, shaped and placed every stone by hand. Their craftsmanship is what makes this wall special. 👏

🌿 A little mop, a lot of peace.

At Modubu Lodge, our vision is a bushveld sanctuary where peace and tranquility flourish, and we believe that's a shared effort between us as hosts and you as guests.

That's why you'll find a mop or two outside the bathrooms at our camping ablutions. Our family bathrooms, each with its own shower/bath, basin and toilet, are serviced daily, and if you splash a little water on the floor, a quick mop means the next guest walks into a fresh, pleasant space too.

We've been touched by how warmly our guests have embraced this. It confirms what we believe: when everyone gets to share in the peace and tranquility, everyone is happy to do their bit.

Our hearts are heavy today. 💔

This morning, Louise, one of our two gentle blue wildebeest girls, passed away. We don't yet know why.

Thelma and Louise have been a real treat for our guests. There aren't many places where you can get this close to these animals, and these two girls crept deep into our hearts. Louise is on the right in the photo.

Thelma is being well looked after, and we'll be keeping a close eye on her.

We are grateful for a fully booked campsite over this past long weekend.

Based on guest's comments we are looking forward to more of these moments.

Things that stood out for our guests:
1. Ablutions that are clean, carefully designed and amongst the best ablution facilities avaialble.
2. Campsites that allow for quite a bit of freedom in how you set up camp.
3. Our Modubu Swift service where we deliver camping essentials like braai wood and ice to your camping spot.

Fraudulent use of the Modubu Lodge name

It has come to our attention that someone is marketing hunting trip packages using the Modubu Lodge name and logo. We need to be very clear:

🚫 We have no relationship with this person.
🚫 Modubu Lodge does not offer or permit hunting on our premises.
🚫 Any payments made for these "packages" are not made with us, and we take no responsibility for them.

✅ Genuine Modubu Lodge bookings can only be confirmed through contacting us on 076 505 3721 or 082 377 9707 or via WhatsApp on 079 510 7553.

If you've been approached with this offer, or have already paid a deposit, please contact us immediately.

🦊 Klein jakkalsies...

You know the ones — those small, seemingly insignificant irritations that quietly nibble away at your peace. On their own they seem too trivial to mention. But add them up, and they're the reason your getaway experience never quite feels as calm as it should.

The basin plug is one of those little foxes.

It vanishes like mist before the sun. Or it's there, but you can't get a grip on it to lift it out from the drain plug system — thanks to a flimsy triangle fastener or a thin ball-chain that bends, snaps, or tangles within weeks. Small thing. Big annoyance😠

At Modubu Lodge, we believe tranquility isn't only found in the big changes — it's protected by chasing out the klein jakkalsies too. So we've introduced basin plugs fitted with sturdy chains and keyring fasteners — solid enough to stay put, yet easy to lift whenever you need to.

Just another way of us living out our vision to be a sanctuary where peace & tranquility flourish!

Meet Wesie. He/she is one of our free roaming Nyala.

Wesie's mother died and now it is a loner, keeping to itself away from the other Nyalas. We have been trying to win its trust and finally it fed from my hand🫠

It is moments like these that make you realize what a privilege it is to be a part of Modubu Lodge.

We are committed to ensuring Wesie's wellbeing so that when you visit, Wesie is around to say hallo.
