Five years of growing, learning, trimming, trying again… and finally, our bottled artichokes are ready for market!

At 18 Artichokes in Bethlehem, we believe the best things are worth waiting for.

These beauties are pure heart — no leafy bits! 💚 Each artichoke is carefully hand-trimmed by Johann himself and preserved in sunflower seed oil, ready to bring a little farm-grown goodness to your table.

Toss them into a salad, serve them on a cheeseboard, add them to pasta, or enjoy them straight from the jar. (We won’t judge if you sneak a few before supper!)

🌱 09:00 — A guided walk through the fields with Johann. Harvest your own artichoke and learn about these fascinating plants.

👩‍🍳 10:30 — Into the Studio! Learn how to clean, prepare and cook your artichoke.

🔥 11:30 — Cook your freshly harvested artichoke on our patio.

🌳 12:30 — Sit back under the trees and savour your creation with fresh lemon butter and a complimentary glass of Chardonnay.

🥬 Your artichoke, dipping sauce and glass of Chardonnay are included.

🎉 Looking for something different for your team? The Artichoke Affair is also available for corporate team-building events and fun year-end functions. Swap the boardroom for the artichoke fields!

Fresh from the field at Bally Duff — R120/kg, with no entrance fee or additional costs.

Johann will take you into the field and show you what to look for, and then you choose exactly which artichokes you want to take home.

And trust me — a freshly picked artichoke is a completely different thing to a tinned one. The fresher, the better. 🤍

Good morning. 🌞

Missed the sunrise?

Then don’t worry.
Here it is again, just for you.

A little colour on the horizon.
Fresh air.
Birds announcing a brand-new day.
And 1,500 artichoke plants waking up with the sun.

Yesterday, someone told us that the fresh air was the highlight of their week. That stayed with me.
