๐งฌ MEET DR MPHAPHATHI MASINDI โ๏ธ๐ฌ
This week, we proudly introduce Dr Mphaphathi Masindiโa leading South African scientist in reproductive biotechnology, cryopreservation and the conservation of animal genetic resources, and a highly anticipated keynote speaker at the International Giraffe Symposium 2026. ๐๏ธ๐
Dr Masindi is a Senior Researcher in the Germplasm Conservation and Reproductive Biotechnology section of the Agricultural Research Council. His work uses advanced reproductive technologies to preserve valuable animal genetics and strengthen conservation, livestock production and sustainable wildlife-management systems across Africa. ๐งฌ๐๐ฆ๐ฑ
A proud alumnus of the University of the Free State, Dr Masindi completed both his MSc and PhD degrees in Animal Science at UFS. His research examined reproductive physiology, semen evaluation, embryo production and the cryopreservation of cattle oocytes. ๐๐งช
With more than a decade of research and applied biotechnology experience, his specialist expertise includes:

Dr Masindi is an accomplished and NRF C3-rated researcher who has published extensively in peer-reviewed scientific journals. His growing international research profile includes more than 400 academic citations, journal reviewing, postgraduate supervision and service on national scientific review panels. ๐๐๐
He has also secured and managed major research grants supporting innovation in cryopreservation, embryo development and genetic-resource conservationโhelping to expand Africaโs capacity in reproductive biotechnology and conservation science. ๐ก๐ค๐งซ
