I know I am a white (Muvet) Zimbabwean, and I understand that some people, especially those who support the ruling party, may try to judge me because of my skin colour. They may say, “A white person cannot lead Zimbabwe because Zimbabwe must never return to colonialism.
But I want to say this clearly: judging someone only because of their skin colour is not the way forward. The future of Zimbabwe must be based on character, ideas, commitment, and the ability to serve the people. Varanda Ve Zimbabwe (Servants of Zimbabwe)
Colonialism was wrong, and we must never repeat the injustices of the past. But we must also be honest about the challenges Zimbabweans face today. Many citizens, regardless of their race, are struggling to access opportunities, quality healthcare, education, jobs, and a better standard of living.
The question we must ask is not, “What colour is this person?” The question must be, “What can this person do for Zimbabwe?”
The infrastructure we have today was built over many years by different generations of Zimbabweans and others who contributed to the development of this country. But our focus should not only be on the past; our focus must be on building a better future for every citizen.
I want to remind Zimbabweans: do not look only at my skin colour. Look at my heart, my vision, and my commitment to serve. I believe in a Zimbabwe where every person is treated equally, where there is no discrimination based on race, tribe, gender, or background.
We are all Zimbabweans. We are all human beings created with different appearances, talents, and ideas. Under my leadership, there will be no place for racism or segregation. Black and white Zimbabweans must stand together as one nation.
Together, we can build a democratic Zimbabwe, a peaceful Zimbabwe, and a prosperous Zimbabwe a country where every citizen has dignity, opportunity, and a future.
