11 years ago today, we opened the doors of Bester Butchery.

I remember how nervous I was. We had put everything on the line for this little dream and, honestly, I didn't know if it was going to work.

We didn't have much. We built what we could, worked the hours we had to, and did just about everything ourselves.

I started this business because I wanted to build something that could look after my family.

I never imagined that one day it would become something that could help support so many other families too.

And I never imagined how many of the people who walked through our doors would become part of our story.

11 years later, that is what I'm most grateful for.

To every customer who has supported us, every person who has travelled through Bloemfontein and stopped at Bester, every regular who feels like family, for an amazing team and every person who has worked alongside us over the years:

Thank you.

You helped turn a little dream into something much bigger than we ever imagined.

Here's to 11 years. ❤️🥩

Goed. Beter. Bester Slaghuis.

Happy Father's Day to all the incredible dads out there! 💙

Being the man of the house isn't always easy. It means carrying responsibility, working long hours, making sacrifices, and often putting your family's needs before your own.

But it also means being the one who teaches, guides, protects, encourages, and loves. The one whose example helps shape the next generation.
To every father, stepfather, grandfather, and father figure: thank you for showing up, even on the hard days. The work you do matters more than you know.

We hope you were spoiled today, spent time with the people you love most, and maybe even enjoyed a little biltong along the way! 🥩😉

Happy Father's Day from our family to yours. ❤️
