The farm – home to the region’s oldest w**e cellar – is steeped in history, dating back to the 1700s. A visit to Beaumont is a romantic escape into a timeless world where tradition is a way of life. The Beaumont family crest reads “Erectus non Elatus” – which means proud but not arrogant – and this approach carries through to everything we do.

Our dam is FULL! 🙌💦 And that means one very exciting thing… our 250-year-old watermill is turning tomorrow!

There’s something special about seeing this piece of Beaumont history come to life, powered entirely by water and grinding fresh, stone-ground flour as it has for generations.

Join Andy, Nawaaz and Lucky as they bring the mill to life and watch flour being made the old-fashioned way.

Spring has flown by at Beaumont, with little rain to settle the dust  

Out in the vineyards, we’ve been suckering vines, replanting in our younger blocks and giving our two precious old Chenin Blanc vineyards a little extra care as they navigate the dry conditions.

Back in the cellar, Sarah has returned from the Loire Valley, inspired by time spent working with Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc. She’s brought home plenty of ideas to explore, and no doubt a few lively discussions around the table. Pictured here with some beautiful Cabernet Franc.

Perhaps the biggest takeaway is a reminder that there’s no simple recipe for making great w**e. The Loire and Bot River are very different places, each with its own terroir, challenges and possibilities.

Travelling to other w**e regions is as much about finding inspiration and asking questions as it is about learning new techniques. It’s about coming home with fresh perspective, renewed energy and a little more motivation to keep pushing our w**es forward.

Pinotage Day calls for a glass of Jackals River Pinotage!

At Beaumont, Pinotage is deeply rooted in our history and our place in Bot River. The Jackals River Pinotage is the very essence of our terroir, made from vines accustomed to the Bokkeveld shale soils on the eastern side of the farm.

But the story begins long before the cellar. The Jackals River winds down the Houw Hoek Pass and through the farm, where it meets the Bot River. Its fresh mountain water has sustained our Pinotage vines for nearly half a century, a connection between the land, the river and the w**e that we hope will continue for generations to come.

Our Pinotage is a cooler-climate expression of the variety: medium-bodied, with fresh red fruit and a hint of spice. As the Afrikaans saying goes, “Dis nie ’n draad sitters wyn”; you can’t sit on the fence with Pinotage. We know where we stand.

This year, Sebastian’s Cape W**emakers Guild w**es offer a rare opportunity to taste two of the vineyards behind Hope Marguerite side by side.
 
For the 2025 vintage, two single-vineyard Chenin’s have been selected for the Cape W**emakers Guild Auction: GG’s Vineyard 1974and Hope Vineyard 1978, with just 20 six-bottle cases of each available.
 
“This is the first year in which I have felt these two w**es could be shown side by side. They have distinctly different personalities, yet together they illustrate the remarkable layers of complexity that go into producing Hope Marguerite.”
 
W**e Magazine recently reviewed this year’s s CWG offering and awarded 96 points to GG’s and 95 points to Hope.
 
CWG GG’s Single Vineyard Chenin Blanc 2025 — 96 points
“From a 1974 vineyard. Lime, lemon, green apple, green melon and herbs on the nose. The palate is defined by its pure fruit and racy acidity, the finish long and dry. Utterly precise.”
 
CWG Hope Single Vineyard 2025 — 95 points
“From a 1978 vineyard. The nose shows peach, cut apple along with biscuit and nutty complexity. Rich and broad with moderate acidity: a layered, savoury w**e with plenty of interest.”

NEW TO THE CAPE WINEMAKERS GUILD AUCTION?
 
It is almost time for the Cape W**emakers Guild Auction, a highlight on the w**e calendar since 1985, offering collectors the chance to bid on small-production w**es made exclusively for the Auction.
 
If you’ve never bid before, it can sound a little daunting. But it really isn’t.
 
The 2026 Auction takes place on Friday, 2 and Saturday, 3 October at Strauss & Co, Brickfield Canvas in Cape Town, with bidding available in person, online, by telephone or by absentee bid.
 
A few things worth knowing:
 
🍷 Anyone can bid. You simply need to create a bidder’s account with Strauss & Co and register for the Auction.

🍷 There are 58 w**es on offer this year, with lots consisting of either 12 or 36 bottles.

🍷 Every w**e has been carefully selected.W**es are independently laboratory-tested before being blind-tasted by specialist panels of Cape W**emakers Guild members. Only w**es considered to possess outstanding qualities make it through the selection process.

🍷 You’ll know the estimated price range. The catalogue provides an estimated minimum and maximum price for each w**e, based on historical prices over the previous three years.

🍷 And what does it cost? In 2025, the average price was R1,309 per bottle, with whites averaging R1,210 and reds R1,375.
 
Once the Auction closes, successful bidders receive confirmation from Strauss & Co and can arrange payment and delivery. International bidders can arrange shipment by the end of October.
 
So, if you’ve been curious about the Cape W**emakers Guild Auction, this could be the year to give it a try.
 
Rare w**es. Small quantities. And a fascinating glimpse into some of South Africa’s most sought-after cellar selections.

Tjoepie is thrilled to share some very special news from Bot River.
 
Beaumont Family W**es Hope Marguerite Chenin Blanc 2025 has been named among the Top 10 Chenin Blancs in South Africa in the 2026 Standard Bank Chenin Blanc Top 10 Challenge.
 
Selected from 150 entries from 97 producers across 36 W**e of Origin classifications, the ten winning w**es were chosen following three days of rigorous blind judging.
 
For us, this recognition is particularly meaningful. Hope Marguerite 2025 marks the 30th vintage of this w**e, made from Beaumont’s treasured old Chenin Blanc vines, including plantings dating back to 1974 and 1978.

It is a w**e that speaks of its place — old vines, Bot River, patience, and a deep belief in the remarkable potential of Chenin Blanc in South Africa.
 
COMING IN OCTOBER
 
The Hope Marguerite 2025 will be released in October, but pre-orders are now open on our website shop if you’d like to secure your allocation ahead of the release.

We’re incredibly proud to see Hope Marguerite recognised alongside nine other exceptional Chenin’s from across the country, and grateful to everyone who has supported this w**e and its journey over the past three decades.
 
A 30th vintage. A Top 10 w**e. A very special moment for Beaumont.
 
COMMUNITY
 
Each Top 10 producer receives R25,000 to invest in a social upliftment initiative. We’re proud that our prize money will support education and opportunities for young people in Bot River — a cause that is very close to our hearts.

Since the Challenge began in 2014, more than R3 million has been invested in community development projects across South Africa.

96 POINTS | 30 VINTAGES | ONE VERY SPECIAL HOPE

Our Hope Marguerite OVP Chenin Blanc 2025 has been awarded 96 points by Tim Atkin in his 2026 South Africa Special Report — a remarkable result for the 30th vintage of our flagship w**e.

And perhaps even more meaningful are Tim’s words, “A w**e that I like to buy for my own cellar, given how seamlessly it ages.”

Born from Beaumont’s oldest Chenin Blanc vineyards, planted in 1974 and 1978, Hope Marguerite is a w**e built around patience, place, and longevity.

The results across the range are equally extraordinary, with four Beaumont w**es also selected among Tim Atkin’s “W**es of the Year”:
